OD1000 Western Enterprise Desert Sand SYP

Possibly due to Dapols delay in delivering last years class 52 announcements some retailer out there may be waiting in the wings to announce a special commission of OO - Western Enterprise in desert sand livery with SYP?

I missed the STEAM issue with plain ends and would prefer the SYP so was wondering if sufficient interest was shown on the forum to produce one then may be Dapol or retailer might be inclined to produce/commission one?

Any other members wanting the same?

Is it me but when looking at the "link"the pictures of the bodyshell it LACKS  a grey pillar between cabside window frame & front windscreen .Instead its maroon , follows a mistake by the NRM when they painted D1023 maroon.

The photograph used in the CMC adverisment in link it certainly has a GREY pillar.

I’m missing it ?

do you mean between the two front windows, or the corners ?

i see twofront windows, with grey frames, and a grey central pillar ?

both look to match the picture to me ?

Read it again "Between cab SIDE windows & WINDSCREENS .

Yes the corners

I see it now, yes they should be Grey (or dirty).

looking at Dapol back catalog they’ve done this with Maroon panels twice before...  D1029 Western Legionnaire (without Talisman clips) and D1023 Western Fusilier (with Talisman clips), also D1018 Western Buccaneer (also with Talisman clips).

D1012, D1065, D1034, D1062 do not have Maroon corner supports, all without Talisman clips.

The pillar looks maroon to me, though rather dirty

I would be interested in a Dapol D1000 in desert sand with yellow panels but I am suspicious of the Dapol model having had the burn out mentioned above and found the running on some other Dapol Westerns to be suspect. The Heljan one may not be as good a model in terms of shape but my Heljan ones all run OK. I still have my Heljan D1000 too:

DCC models are the repair specialist agent for Dapol just outside Worcester. They sorted one of mine out for me with same problem.

Thanks, I might investigate that. It's currently dumped in the scrap box.

I actually got a whole boxed chassis from them for c£35 at Warley, unpainted but everything there except a body...

I got a reject body a year earlier for a tenner, not sure what’s wrong with it.

not sure what to do with it, one thought was Foster Yeoman or NSE livery.

Yes I would definitely buy a D1000 in Desert Sand, preferably plain end as I went around Swindon and saw ‘Enterprise’ almost complete in that form, but could easily live with yellow ends

the maroon on the CMC models looks very dark- more like the 'wine' colour on West Coast locos. Was it a trick of the camera?

Poor photo - the maroon is the same as previous releases which I personally think is spot on.

Hi,

I cannot see it mentioned elsewhere (apologies if so) but this weekend at STEAM Museum's annual exhibition, a model (Dapol) of D1000 in OO was announced in desert sand, with small yellow panels.

The following (shop page) is linked to from the STEAM's .org website:

D1000 Western Enterprise, Desert Sand Small Yellow Panels

Available DC, DCC Fitted or DCC Sound Fitted and limited to 500 models.

I think they said it was due later this year and that they will contact people who put their names down nearer the time to confirm their wish to purchase and for payment details when the models arrive.

Hope it's of interest to many!

Thanks,

Ixion.

Yep, had a phone call 45 mins ago asking if I wished to purchase, which I did, so paid for the loco. Should be dispatched in the next day. It looks like there is stock still available.

Just had a text from Royal Mail, advising that they have a parcel for me, on next day, before 1pm Special Delivery. No detail of the supplier, but tracking shows it at RM Swindon, so must be my D1000 from Steam.

There's an advert for it at the back of this months BRM.

Has anyone actually received one?

If so, with sound?

I've had no contact yet, despite putting my name down for a sound one as soon as I saw them for pre-order at the Museum's yearly Model Railway Exhibition.  I am hoping to contact them this coming week but perhaps it's just that the non-sound ones that have arrived so far as I cannot find anywhere that has one of the regular batch with sound in stock yet.

Interested to see your photos of your D1000, Suzy Sulzer - always like the half-yellow panel liveries!

Thanks,

Ixion.
