A few new arrivals, to restock the stash..

Interesting, I'd never heard of a Seafang, only knowing the Seafire (carrier version of the Spitfire).

For anyone else that was wondering, the Seafang appeared to be a post WWII development of the Spiteful (also unknown to me), itself a development of the Spitfire. Essentially outmoded by the newfangled jets, only 18 were built (would anybody build all 18 from 18 kits?). From Wikipedia.

The wing from the Spiteful/Seafang was used on one of those new fangled jets - the Attacker

It's been a busy few days...

First the new arrivals:

With the fate of Wingnut Wings 'up in the air', I couldn't resist a Kingston built biplane - as an investment.

A Mark of Spitfire I've never built.

Spitfire8_01.jpg.9726678324fb9db4e57dbcb983c31731.jpg

And tool time..

Will help with the tiny photo-etch!

20200426_165634.jpg.9e64be200d0f4a6aa1fe9fd0992312f2.jpg

And finally a photo-etch folding jig..

folding_jig.jpg.4b658224d1db6ec936cdfb9fdba44b68.jpg

And some essential supplies..

Part 2 of this weeks update will be up soon ;)

Part 2..

Build updates..

The Shackleton MR.3 is into paint, primer showed a few issues - which I corrected.

Very Vlad the Impaler with next shot (wings will be in paint this afternoon.)

shackletonMR3_29.jpg.dd8df2527b0565bf48c0bd02c2106a33.jpg

Three-fifths of a rake of Collett 60' Coaches are finished too - modifying corridor connectors, fitting screw-links, oh my!

Severn Models Brick built Lineside Hut - I had to try out the folding jig (didn't I?)

Waiting on some Mr Etch Primer for this ;)

And finally there's a piece of armour started this morning..

I'm sure there's someone out there who'll figure what it is ;) - no cheating either.

Very nice. Has it got a number?

Isn't it just. A lot of these coaches didn't have numbers in the post war period. This will run in my milk train and again the PBV's used usually had branding on the sides. Modeller's licence in action here. Here's a sneak preview of one of the renumbered tankers @toboldlygo has done.

Very nice too. I've just got two of those - no 62 as Hornby intended and no 6, with the 2 removed (I am not a number, I am a free milk tank).

The first Milk Tankers, I've ever renumbered and weathered too.

Speaking of Tanks...

Far too clean, you can still see the livery :P

I had better go and check that my two Express liveried tanks have different numbers now...

I have 3 in pre war liveries (1 CWS and 2 in Express)  and 4 in silver (I have seen mixed messages about 40s liveries some saying plane silver with small company branding others blue) either way they will be filthy.  The rest of the rake will be Rotanks when I get round to designing the parts for a scratch build.

Technically speaking it can't be a M26 Pershing because the  tank wasn't officially accepted by the US military until March 1945, when it got it's designation as M26 and was named after General Pershing. Until then, it was know under its prototype number, T26E3. And why then can't the above tank be a Pershing?  Because the model, as build, represents Fireball, a tank that got knocked out on it's second day in service, in February 1945. So it never made it to being a M26... :jester:
Enough nitpicking for today!       :punish:

So to keep the Tank Mafia happy -  @Trains&armour Here's the T26E3 (what would become the M26 Pershing in March 1945) completed.

If @Trains&armour is polite there may be a blog entry, if not special forces will be deployed to his bunker and a red hot golden Lego 12" (30.28cm) diameter rivet will be involved :diablo_mini:
