oldmr3.jpg.fc74032fd308c3d2e8948b7a9196c48f.jpg

However Revell have just brought out a completely new tool :danced:

I've just put up Part 1 of a new blog which will chronicle the build (when I get round to it), part 1 however is just a sprue review

A few updates from the last week..

Goods Shed is part primed, I will get on with painting the interior at some point.

goodsShed_12.jpg.9d495c20b958f047fd0ccc27c72c6301.jpg

The Sand-house is fully painted and had lighting installed. I'm just waiting on some Tamiya Flat Clear so I can seal  the building and then lightly weather it.

The Stable's are currently in paint, walls are ready for some dry-brushing in brick colours.

And finally, after 3 months on the sidelines HMCS Snowberry returned to the workbench..

snowberry_19.jpg.d0eec65e48de3fed339eb62beadf375d.jpg

Gave the joints a clean up (to see where she needed some more filling) and removed the deck planking from where it isn't needed.

snowberry_20.jpg.8e027ccf3a88700a146fdf3a2a1f229c.jpg

Added the upgraded resin rudder ( aftermarket prop was also cleaned up - not shown).

snowberry_21.jpg.fcc21ae04753ad09f54a3f86f81d2a11.jpg

Adding detailing to the Forecastle..

snowberry_22.jpg.d8f0c5044a4e9275446600328a02889b.jpg

More detailing added to the Forecastle..

snowberry_23.jpg.4b6fa66bd3c6614bf44e8d35e5980651.jpg

And some detailing added to the aft deck..

They'll be another update on HMCS Snowberry tomorrow ;)

After a trip to Halfords this morning for a large can of grey primer, it was back to work on Snowberry.

Once I'd done some more clean up (from some additional filling), I degreased the hull and masked the portholes ready for few coats of primer..

snowberry_24.jpg.68d89d63af0dcadce541ebc83ab8db5e.jpg

After a few coats of primer, she's back from the garden (I don't use rattle cans in the spray booth). I'm extremely happy with the finish ;)

Now I have a tale to tell, having watched various builds of the kit, I was swung toward investing in the aftermarket upgrade for the main gun - I shouldn't have bothered, with some TLC and using some know-how and references from my Flower Class Book, I made something pretty decent..,

snowberry_26a.jpg.707cf7b222933024c5b1be14b6bb0b4f.jpg

Obviously dry-fitted to the deck and still numerous bits to add..

snowberry_26.jpg.32ee0ad0afff51cc7368f64cc0f8317f.jpg

That's all for now (possibly) ;)

More work today, HMCS Snowberry went into the spray-booth barely!

snowberry_27.jpg.819c0342329e566a9b6707377acdab18.jpg

Managed to snap the rudder off too - oops

snowberry_28.jpg.b406566c1e296da67e1307425471b6e6.jpg

Hull all painted up, just some minor touching up needed.

More work done on the front gun too.

Your Corvette looking good. Black below waterline suits it I think, colour they were after refits during war. Also the main gun looks perfect using the kit parts, most of the gun details are hidden behind the gun shield anyway.

Having seen your pics I'm motivated to fit the gun to mine which is still in "launched, in trials mode before armament fitted." As mine is a working model I've thought about fitting a servo under the gun platform to traverse it. Had my Corvette out on the lake a couple of times recently, it handles very well. I need to add more detail. Good kit.

Thanks, she's not quite black on the underside - it's Anthracite Grey.

The kit gun just needs a good clean-up and the end drilling out carefully. Also the barrel needs cutting down slightly.

So with HMCS Snowberry safely out the way to allow to paint to harden off (and out of sight of my 7 year old niece - she's into boats at the moment, so it could of ended up on the Pond!)

I decided to do some work on the Tempest - as today was going to be distraction filled (Mum's 82nd Birthday).

So it's been all the small bits, before I get her into paint..

tempest_43.jpg.14dfc9291a3dad128564528b8bf5c64a.jpg

First up, I gave her a wash in tepid soapy water to get rid of all the sanding residue and allowed her to dry.

I painted the small glazing bits that needed it and gave the places they go a paint with chrome sliver (paint pen). I glued the cannon into place and dry fitted the windscreen (it's a beautiful fit).

tempest_44.jpg.4c280c23cd12087a18d51575dae1db9d.jpg

Once back from an extended lunch I fitted the various glazing pieces to the underside of the wings (and fuselage) on the whole they fitted okay, however the wing tip lights and the outer large lights (I think they are landing lights) needed some sanding & polishing to get a flush fit.

tempest_45.jpg.12e2a77efe05d5403044ce5621021e4c.jpg

Windscreen glued in place (carefully with Tamiya Extra Thin).

More to come in the morning on this..

As promised, I've done bit more on the Tempest in between various jobs around the house this morning.

I finished the canopy last night after having the tricky task of fitting the internal frame to it (as you'll see in the photo's below, it's a very good dry fit.)

This morning, I assembled the prop (which went together beautifully) and test fitted the aftermarket Brassin exhausts, after carefully removing them from their sprues.

Well my workroom currently looks like a building site..

The Sand-house is finished..

sandhouse_06.jpg.b3dffcd00474ae9fbdf25979a20e9298.jpg

And lit (tweaks have been done to the lighting since the photo below).

sandhouse_07.jpg.c9684a66466dfa8c22a12c4b406b642a.jpg

Westbury Stables fresh from the paintshop after weathering..

stableblock_10.jpg.b593cac8c88221844bef05c4b86fdda6.jpg

Weathering finished and lighting added..

stableblock_11.jpg.8e24d4b90a989f53ac21fae547714c3c.jpg

And return to the Works for the Coaling Stage for lighting to be fitted - I did the fiddly job of fitting internal lighting today, before the hot weather got too much, I'll do the outside lamps tomorrow.

CoalingStage_36.jpg.9285120cfe913705594063a9bc8a26ad.jpg

Oh and I finished priming the Goods Shed too..

Here's one I built yesterday..

Cambrian Kits C64 GWR 40T Bogie LOCO Coal Wagon (Dia, N14/15).

As per the last Cambrian Kit I built, there's a lot of clean up - however spend the time doing the clean up, means a better fitting kit.

After cleaning up the parts for the basic 'Box', they where glued together.

40TLocoWagon_inWorks_01.jpg.7572cebdc7bdd3d83a0504bc6d697719.jpg

The three link couplings, sole-bars, trusses and hand-brakes were added next - as I'm doing the Dia. N14 the hand-brakes are at the out ends.

40TLocoWagon_inWorks_02.jpg.825bf812006e359628d6dd7e47812981.jpg

Buffers and bogie pivots were then added.

40TLocoWagon_inWorks_03.jpg.b5eef37d3473b0ea45bd819380afac87.jpg

The Bogies where then fitted.

40TLocoWagon_inWorks_04.jpg.16e1e6aee5c86c52da1440d8b744960a.jpg

Ballast was added this morning - no need for a false floor either ;)

40TLocoWagon_inWorks_05a.jpg

More to come on this build later today ;)
