Triang L1 mods.

I've played with an L1 to give an approximation of an E1. The most obvious differences are the shorter frames in front of the  smokebox, the cab and the tender.

The large pipe on the left hand side of the smoke box is aluminium rod bent to shape with a pipe flange cut from a sheet of paper. The other two brass valves are from left over parts from a M7 kit with brass wire going under the boiler. Similar parts can also be found in the Dapol Schools kit.

I bought the David Maidment book and found that not all L1’s have these fittings, neither could I find any explanation of their purpose.
