SM42
I have finally got round to downloading the pictures from Jaworzyna Slaska As usual there are a number of items slowly rusting away, but as one of the staff said, at least they still exist. To get to the museum you have to cross the PKP line and ring the doorbell to be let in the gate and then make your way to the ticket office to pay. Very trusting First up some TkT48s In the fading sun on the evening before our visit, this one is parked up on the opposite side of the main line to the museum And the other side the following day Another one And another, in better condition It's Thomas Jim, but not as we know it. Note the missing pony wheels Some other gently rusting locos Fireless Some views around the turntable in the next post

RMweb Gold Nick C Posted October 22, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2019 Nice pictures SM42 - I'll have to add that one to the list of places to visit... We've just got back from our trip to Kraków, Warszawa and Poznań, having done the whole thing by train - out via Prague, back via Berlin. We had a very pleasant trip on Saturday from Poznań to Wolsztyn and back, behind Ol49-69, although the outbound journey was somewhat delayed due to a late-running (and utterly rammed) DMU going the other way at Szreniawa, limiting the time I had to look round the shed at Wolsztyn. I'll get some photos up once I've got them off the camera...
SM42
Hi Nick Looking forward to the pictures. Missed you by 5 days or so then . No steam for me this trip, but I did get a couple of hours out at Paledzie ( just west of Poznan) watching the trains go by while Mrs SM42 was at the Dentist. neilkirby
Hi, Another RMWebber who has been to Wolsztyn here, I went with my father in 2007 It was his 3rd and last visit. He was lococrew on the LMS, and had been around locomotives since an early age, his father and grandfather both worked at Longhedge works in Battersea. He asked me to go on his 2nd trip, and I turned him down. while he was away my mum told me how dissappointed he was that I didn't want to go. Anyway 2 years later we were talking about plans for the coming year and he mentioned that he might go again, so I said I would go with him. I must say the look of delight on his face as he drove OL49-69 and I fired made it all worth while. Little did I know then that 2 years later he would be gone. I must upload some of my photos. As an aside I am quite supprised that no manufacturer make an OL49 as it's the last steam locomotive to run scheduled mail line services in Europe. There must be plenty of enthusiasts about who have worked the engines at Wolsztyn and would want one? Ol49s are brilliant engines; I have very fond memories of 'driving' and firing those when the 'Experience' was alive and well and it was at least one return trip per day for 5 days (6 if you had spare dosh and booked your own flight home). There is a kit of a 49 available but I think it has to be built for you and the last time I checked (10 years ago?) it cost well over £500

neilkirby
Intriguing answer! How could any manufacturer not want to make these! Edited March 11, 2020 by neilkirby typo
neilkirby
Also if any model manufacturer put plates on as wonky as these they would be raked over the coals
RMweb Premium 5944 Posted March 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 13, 2020 Wolsztyn parade on Saturday 2nd May postponed until probably September. In other news, Ol49-59 took the tender from Pt47-65 back to Wolsztyn earlier this week, after repairs to damage caused by last year's derailment.

I had planned to go again but never mind. There are far more important things to worry about. I may, if I find a bit of time, try and post some of my pictures from past parades if I can find them, as a sort of steam therapy to keep us going All please feel free to post your pics too. SM42
As it would be the Wolstztyn parade this weekend, I have found some of the pictures I took at past parades as a sort of virtual Wolsztyn. These are from 2010. We made our way from Poznan by train (how else) but as a bonus it was steam hauled via Leszno and formed of historic carriages Our loco, Pt47-65 running round at Leszno At Wolsztyn the funnies were out as usual We made out way over to the shed to watch the preparations. The crowds were gathering (compare this to 2019's photos) Tkt 48 moving off the turntable Not long now Wolsztyn shed celebrity loco Pm36-2 Piekna Helena shunting to position for the opening cermony on the level crossing In position outside the signal box Waiting for the guest loco to join her (it was Czech not Austrian as I said up thread) More from 2010 later. RMweb Premium 5944 Posted May 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2020 Seems odd looking at photos from this weekend (and the past week) thinking it should be the parade this weekend, yet passenger numbers are such that only one coach is being used at present.
SM42
More from 2010 Don't ask what these are. I didn't record a lot of info. I shall leave that to those who know more about these things. These are some of the highlights / better photos The parade begins Tkt 48 nice. The funnies come out to entertain whilst the locos form up. Don't see many vacuum fitted Polski Fiats The calvacades end the show Andy 4
RMweb Premium 5944 Posted May 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 8, 2020 And now today, the bizarre site of two locos on one coach! Air compressor failure on Ol49-59 so Pt47-65 assisted.
RMweb Gold Nick C Posted June 1, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 1, 2020 (edited) It's not just UK heritage railways who are putting out fundraising appeals - Wolsztyn is too: https://polandin.com/48314309/online-fundraising-appeal-for-wolsztyn-engine-house edit: link to the appeal: https://zrzutka.pl/2cgrmk Edited June 1, 2020 by Nick C

Coach bogie
The prairie goes off with two coaches and comes back several hours later. Looks like a normal service duty, though it does not appear in the platforms, Just a high speed push pull over the level crossing. RMweb Gold Nick C Posted July 16, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2020 (edited) I've obviously picked a good time to read this thread - as I type (10:00BST, 11:00CET), OL49-59 is sitting over the pit simmering away to itself, presumably getting ready for the second run of the day. Edit - and she left on the Lezno line at 12:00CET. Edited July 16, 2020 by Nick C
SM42
I was fortunate enough to make it to Poland during the summer. Whilst there I found a bit of Polish steam First up some narrow gauge sitting around doing nothing much. No idea what they are. I'm sure someone can enlighten me This was sat anonymously at the end of Majdan station on the Bieszczady Forest Railway I found this in the agricultural museum at Szreniawa. Unfortunately I didn't record the details of what the loco is and later that week out on the mainline at Szreniawa OL49 59 pulls away with the 0609hrs Wolsztyn - Poznan service and heads off into the rising sun And finally the 1009hrs return working from Poznan Andy Edited December 26, 2020 by SM42 Spelling as usual 3
EddieB
The loco in the agricultural museum at Szreniawa is 750mm gauge Px48-1792, Chzanow 2032/1952. The first loco, the one at Majdan, is a type Kp4, to a design built in large numbers for the Soviet Union, in Finland (type PT4), Czechoslovakia (Kcz4) and Poland Kp4), Hungary (Kw4). Some were also exported to China, while others built at Chrzanow went to Polish industry - as this one appears to have been. Without absolute certainty, I believe it is Kp4-3772 (Chrzanow 3772/1957), 750mm gauge ex-Kruszwica Sugar Factory, from the ill-fated railway museum at Pyskowice. 1
