The steady acceleration of the Trebuchet should ensure the pasties' structural integrity is maintained.

Whereas a Ballista's more violent launch manner might cause the pasty to break up and deliver a shower of smaller particles.

[Yes, my mind is wandering somewhat, I'm in isolation at the moment....]

Think I've mentioned this before, but I once heard it said that the test of a good pasty is that it should be capable of being dropped down a mineshaft and still being in one piece when it hits the bottom.

Mrs Y made some a couple of months ago that had the same density and integrity. Match those to Paul's trebuchet and you'd be getting into disarmament treaties.

We had a go at building a Lego trebuchet during 1st lockdown. There are a lot of settings that can be tweaked before getting the ideal trajectory, Paul's horizontal launch could easily go near vertical instead.

For the absolutely most heroic failure, look at the Scrapheap Challenge car-flinger episode; farmer Andy's spot-on declaration "It completely vandalised itself!" being a surprisingly restrained summary of events :O

Apologies again for being :offtopic: I'd love to be able to meet again in a real life setting - but only when safe for all involved. Meanwhile, enjoying the on site interactions as always :D

I presume you are confident she won't read that.

The mad Mr Furze also built and partly destroyed his this week ;)

That has potential to shift a lot of pasties . . .

It's all very well you slinging pasties over the Bristol Channel, but us poor bu66ers have to catch them! And, as the pasty in flight  passes its apogee, we have to guard against seagulls....

"They threw a pasty, at my mate Jim,

He said that it hurt, it came in a tin."

She said why not build a Christmassy layout.......

It an oval the front half is sat on the back half.  If Boris had just decided we should delay Christmas I might have had a chance of getting it done.

Same to you!!!

BR managed to mis-spell "Penrikyber" in the timetables for a couple of years after it reopened.   Anyone knows it's Penrhiwceiber.  Just up the road from Hell on Earth.  Otherwise known as the Abercwmboi coking plant.

In that case, you must be familiar with Ynysboeth, also known as the 'Tynte'
