MRJ 271 arrived this morning - South Pelaw in EM gauge, what a superb layout

Andy, can you add a shocked' icon on the 'like' buttons please - some of the exhibitions listed in the previous issue haven't even happened yet!  :o

Just dropped through the door.  South Pelaw looks fab.

It would have been even better if the printer had lined up the pages (125 to 132 and 149 to 156) so that the perforated joints along the top edges were cut off!  This is the first time I've had this with MRJ.  Anyone else have this problem with their copy?

Mine came today, not a problem with it. Contents look superb but I really ought to be getting back to work so I've locked it away.

My subs renewal was included, I note it's only for 4 issues at a time and guess this is in case of increased print costs in the near future.

No problems with the printing of mine.  As well as the superb "South Pelaw", "Surrey Arms" looks very good too; a layout I wasn't previously aware of.

I spotted that, initially thought '£20.80 is a bit cheap', this means I'm going to have to write three cheques a year, 2 MRJ and 1 NERA...

Bit annoying really.

I phoned about the 4 issues and what I was told made me laugh. Apparently they are afraid that they are getting old and don't want to have to refund any money if one of the team falls of the perch !

This must be catching because I have told my better half this is the last time I will be decorating because at 68 this will last at least 10 years and I won't be doing it again at 78 if I live that long.

South Pelaw Junction - the layout it would be most painful to sit on by accident.

I had to have a few sit downs whilst reassembling the layout for it's latest shakedown run at this weekends Middlesbrough show. For those not going to Expo EM if you can get to the M'boro show the modelling  on South Pelaw alone would make a visit worthwhile.

I can say that, having had nothing to do with it's building but I'll hold my hand up now and say that any derailments/spads seen this coming weekend will be my fault and mine alone. Purely due  to my incompetence in the driving department.

No problems with the printing on my copy.

I haven't read the South Pelaw article yet (reserving that for this afternoon) but I did enjoy the Surrey Arms piece.  It contained lots of useful tips that require neither a degree in engineering nor any specialised equipment and I shall certainly be adopting some of them.

Needless to say MRJ271 hasn't reached North Norfolk yet... Perhaps the donkey has gone lame.

I expect he's sat by the roadside, having a jolly good read of your magazine.

And, for once, it's not first out at Smiff's in PZ.. still waiting, probably get one in Cardiff on Thursday.
Might be because we have these new super-dupper trains twixt Paddington and PZ.

Expo EM Autumn with fair winds and following seas and the added bonus of Black Cherry crumble by the Crocodile Sisters.

I saved my purchase for my bank holiday commute home,

Much has been made of South Pelaw (justifiably so) but the 2mm scale signal boxes from Jerry (Queensquare) and Surrey Arms really caught my eye.

The latter being one of those minimum space models that actually doesn't feel constrained, a difficult act to pull off.

A most enjoyable edition.

I must say this issue was a corker.

For myself, based purely on my own interests, Surrey Arms was THE article to return to. A nice layout and as alluded to above, a fine demonstration of making a small space seem a lot bigger.

However,  Jerry's signal boxes are a tremendous example of the finest of finescale modelling. I now have an urge to build a Midland signal box. Truth be known, one was always going to be needed for a future Midland layout set in Bristol but Jerry's article may have prompted an earlier look than planned..............

I was wondering what to do next.

Inspired by Surrey Arms, prompted by Jerry...............Ramsbottom Down seems quite likely now.......

Top stuff.

Rob.
