Formerly Round and Round a new beginning - now CHIRM

Recommended Posts

Since tablets were adjusted then heart rate has been more in control. Doing more steps and lost some weight and was due to see consultant 26 th May which given circumstances now cancelled. No caffeine or alcohol since August.  Being very careful and not been out since before lockdown. The use of the screw connector Mini boards have really helped by reducing soldering especially under the baseboards so fumes not activated asthma.

Tidy up day and test session. Apart from strong smell of burning when an off cut of wire from the wire in tube found its way across a switch then all lines worked!  More stock out and run trains both ways just to show off! Such simple pleasures. Post woman stopped by observing social distancing of course and found out she is in St Johns Ambulance  so looking for discount of their services at next Wakefield exhibition whenever that is!

Hot day so cool of the garage welcome for a hour this afternoon. Started to map out the main buildings. Lumber yard will take 2 40 ft cars. Majority of the stock yard will be off layout but access roads will show where it is sited.

Found lurking in the spares box what must be an overhead crane of some type and will have a go at using to unload raw and finished stone in the Stone yard. Stone masons cutting shed will probably end up being half relief.  Need to source some limestone so can cut up into some blocks. Think still have the tile saw somewhere  that could use used to saw it down.

Bit of a nothing day today not helped by bunged up nose and head cold. Used up the last of the burnt grass to create a base layer and glued up more torn cork strips to create rock faces for timber over bridge which creates the scene break at the garage door end.

used up the remaining ballast on the timber spur.

Another cold morning in the garage. When the is north or eastly it is artic in there. Mocked up the levels of the wooden over bridge and glued up more cork strips.

in the stone yard made a foam board template to rough out the dimensions of the Stone cutting shed. Looking on www.monon.org a couple of sheds look possible candidates to act as suggestions for the CHIRM shed.

Mostly a garden day today but did mock up possible locations of next bits of Chirm. Using two ex Vimes a Street buildings. Stone Tools, very apt name one block down from the stone yard and the Yard Cafe which backs onto the switching spurs. In the space between the spurs will have some MOW, yard hut structures again ex Vimes Street.

looking further up the layout position of CHIRM Depot and the loco stabling spur.

Parcel today of some bits but ballast supplies not part of it so spent time creating landform base next to the timber bridge with the cardboard packaging.

modified the BR Freightliner fork lift by removing back cab and modifying rear mud guard.

5A strange day having to keep away from news feeds etc and D Cummings story. The man believes he is above every body else and as such nothing applies to him. Unaccountable unelectable and as such untouchable. So lots of time sitting quietly reading and just a couple of hours in the garage today.

worked on the stone building putting front sides and back together.

forgot when making the back piece that the angle with a curved roof would create a variable height back plate. Leave for another day how to sort it out!

little project completed, the depot name signs

Very hot days when paint glue etc seems to dry before it leaves the brush. Plaster bandage to form the shell of the landform. Remembered I had what seems to be a carpet tile of Vegetation somewhere in a stash that was bought from a secondhand stall years ago. Will use and add a few beef cattle grazing on what will be poor pasture land.

  • 2 weeks later...

Horrible cold and drenching rain day yesterday has given way to sun and bits of blue sky. Modelling session spent cleaning up again but next layer of ground cover vegetation added to the timber bridge. Left hand side will face modelling North so hoping to represent this in vegetation cover.
