Formerly Round and Round a new beginning - now CHIRM

Recommended Posts

Made a start on ballasting a job I hate and in between lengths added more to the timber bridge, suggestion of a wetter area on the right hand field, added more bush etc on left hand side before lumber yard and made a start of landscaping around Stone tools. The little shed before the lumber yard hides the slide switch for the switch.

Rainy day so no garage time so built up some of the Stone yard vehicles. Ex WW2, Korean War disposal lorry and trailer that will be used to move stone around the yard. Trailer made into a flat bed and tractor unit added a flat bed.

Unexpected birthday delivery this lunchtime with back order arrival of a small crane/ grab that will work in CHIRM yard. Looks suitably early 60s vintage. Still till to come a crane with hook version that will be mounted onto ex WW1 cab and chassis ready to work in the Stone cutting yard.

Changed up the kibri mobile crane to work in the timber yard. Will be fitted with a hook. Gives it more like a Coles crane of the 1950s.

The unmodified version will work in the yard.

tomorrow the last of the lockdown kits should arrive and then aim to make a truck mounted crane to work in the Stone yard.

Not built anything for awhile so little project adding another 40 ft box car to the roster. Red Caboose NYC, will be seen on through freights. Going to end up heavily weathered but at the moment base coat of track grime to kill the gloss paint

Had trains running all the way around the layout this afternoon for the first time for a long time as discovered the wire that looked as if connected but in reality was not! Good to see trains crossing in CHIRM and switching the little yard has inspired me to get on and finish other parts.
