Formerly Round and Round a new beginning - now CHIRM

Recommended Posts

Damp day so took opportunity of wife’s absence to bring in the removal section into the house to have a fettle. Had not been too pleased with the overall effect using the PECO girder bridge sides as looked too large for the span and hide too much of the locos and freight cars as they went over that section.

Remembered I had a highway over bridge from Vimes Street so looking to use the smaller and more open sections to create a Mark 2 version.

do not know what possessed me to use gaffer tape on the section, plaster had started to lift so removed it all ready to prep and start again!

Added extra resin to increase depth of water and did a better job of sealing the ends this time! Base layer and start of bushes added. I think it will create a more lighter, secondary route over a small river feel than before

Too cold for garage so trying to complete some bits and pieces.

So far wooden fencing painted and weathered to go around the classic car garage

More stone loads for stone yard.

Truck for the lumber yard

Stone waste trailer and small truck mounted crane. Last 2 items supposedly etc US army stock purchased after Korean War. Base coats applied, stone weathering and wear to add.

Not the best day as too much stock ended up on floor. Lift out section protected by electric dead section but if Loco is propelling then carnage. However lucky as kadees held and only one box car hit the floor, requires new bogie bolsters and couplings.

did manage to add fence around classic car garage.

lumber yard and stone mill more or less complete

Have you found the cause of the problem? Mis-aligned rail ends? :scratchhead: :dontknow:

Yes the cars were being propelled. One of the Switch blades on a Switch was not seating tight against the stock rail. I was running a train through to test it out after cleaning out between the switch and the stock rail.  I had changed numbers to drive another Loco and must have neglected to completely switch off the former Loco and whilst busy elsewhere did not notice it moving until the first car dropped. It’s only 8 ft Max to the gap so managed to grab the others.

Found in a cupboard a couple of undecorated covered hoppers which I must have picked up on a second hand stall sometime. Going to turn into a couple of private owner stone dust cars that will run on the branch from the off scene quarry. Somewhere I can remember seeing the missing lids, if not then will have to make them. Will be weathered up a lot as stone dust cars did seem to get very dusty.

I took that as freight cars propelled (rather than hauled) into the abyss.

Ah, I got the fact it was a propelling move. If I understand correctly now, the lift-out section wasn't actually in place at all..?? :scratchhead: :scared:

Warm enough to get into the garage today for a while and with forecast indicating another cold spell did some maintenance jobs as well as planting the maize field on the right handside of the  lift out section.

Overhead crane in position at the Stone Mill.

Another warm  enough day for outside so not a lot of modelling though have roughed in the scenic  break at the chemical plant end. Shallow cutting with  bush and small trees.

Rest of hard standing for engine spur roughed in as his small metal working garage between tracks. Does sub contracting jobs for the Iron Works.
