Fel1xp
Hi all, I'm looking to build a helix inside a mountain to help the train. I believe that minimum radius for n gauge is 12 inches, but could a OO9 loco e.g. 2-6-2T fit round this tight radius too? Has anyone got any advice on building a helix in general for OO9? Cheers
RMweb Premium Nile Posted May 22, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2019 Most 009 locos are happy with 9 inch radius. Larger ones such as the Heljan 2-6-2T need 12 inches. It's worth bearing in mind that the tighter the radius of a helix the steeper the gradient will be. The height of the stock will also influence the gradient. I suggest you work out what the gradient of your planned helix will be and conduct some tests with your stock before committing to the design.
