RMweb Gold nest Posted May 24, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 24, 2019 It's with great sadness that I must report that this morning I was informed that Doug Hill, former treasurer of the Brighton MRC, passed away. An excellent modeller and an expert on all things LSWR, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Nestor 1
RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted May 24, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 24, 2019 (edited) Indeed he will Nest. We will always remember him as a thrifty Treasurer, especially his regular exclamations "How much???". As you say, he was a fine modeller, not only of locos and stock, but also of track and points, scenery and buildings as well as of course his electrical skills. I was lucky enough to be an occasional operator on his 00 LSWR loft layout, which, as with everything he built, was absolutely superb. We all have our memories of Doug but one of my favourites concerns the door bell on his house. Bearing in mind that he was a lecturer in electrical engineering, I was amazed the first time I called on him to read a notice next to the button "Bell not working. Use knocker". Farewell Doug and thanks for all the good times we shared. Edited May 25, 2019 by St Enodoc
