RLWP
Well, Jun Ying anyway Wanting to bend some rail, I searched the internet and found this: https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/15932?page=1 The basic watch repair tool is pretty cheap, so I bought one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Watch-Repair-tool-Waterproof-Screw-Case-Back-Opener-Large-XL-Jaxa-Wrench/291524715999?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 The design of the tool has changed from the article on Model Railroad Hobbyist. Rather than use the long screws and bits of tube, I turned the three pegs down in the lathe to fit some 8mm bore bearings: I used snap ring bearings with the snap ring removed: That makes the clearance groove for the rail flange And it works!: Richard 1
RMweb Premium polybear Posted June 1, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 1, 2019 Would it be possible to show a photo of the finished machining on one of the pegs please?
RLWP
I just turned it down to a fraction over 8mm (0.316" to be exact) I could probably knock up a quick drawing Richard

RMweb Premium polybear Posted June 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 2, 2019 Many thanks for the photo and dimensions I've found an alternative supplier on Ebay for the Jaxa Wrench, this time in the UK (so faster delivery) plus a bit cheaper (but no storage box). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Watch-Repair-Back-Case-Removal-Opener-Wrench-Tool-Wrenchmaker-Screw-Cover-Kit-UK/401768627062?var=671563010910 Unfortunately the bearings are out of stock at present, so I'll either have to check when they'll be back in stock or find an alternative supplier. Many thanks for posting this - I quite like the idea of making one for myself. Brian

I tried to order three of those particular ones and found they were out of stock Instead, I bought three of these: https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p152878/6082RSNR-Deep-Groove-Bearing-with-Snap-Ring-8x22x7mm/product_info.html Blow the expense! Richard I received a reply from Simply Bearings - they had a website glitch (now fixed) which showed the cheaper bearing as being out of stock, even though they weren't. So 3 bearings plus the watch case tool from ebay are duly ordered - cost about 15 quid total. Now to wait for postie.....

RLWP
So, I bent some track! This is for a bit of 009 nonsense: Next step is to make a point, if I can work out what the 'correct' standards are Richard
