What happened?

Someone videoing out of a door droplight, had an argument with part of the bridge or nearby structure.

Suffice to say, his day out ended there, as his head parted company with the rest of him.

It was, at the time, touch and go if the rest of the series of trips that summer would continue, however a rapid fitting of door window bars allowed the programme to be completed.

50034 and 50035 at Newquay on October 4th 1987. This was a BR arranged trip advertised as the last locomotive-hauled train to Newquay. It ran from Paddington to Newquay and back via the Berks & Hants.

Oh yes I remember... A good idea spoilt from a photographic point of view by the use of NSE liveried locos. As a send off to Newquay loco hauled, the 50s should have been from those still in LL blue.

Oh I don't know. At least it is colourful.

Notice the slight difference in the width of the yellow on the cab sides. I wonder if manufacturers would be allowed to get away with that?

Your comment made me look again at my picture, Jonny; I hadn’t noticed the difference you refer to. You can also see that the red diagonal stripe intersects with the handrail recess at different places on the two locos.

56xx 0-6-2T 6697 arrives at Chester on March 27th 1966 with the SLS 'Farewell To GWR Locomotives' railtour.

The tour ran from Birmingham Snow Hill to Llandudno via Shrewsbury, Chester, and Rhyl, with 42727 taking the Chester-Llandudno leg and return. Unfortunately, 6697 was failed at Chester for the trip back to the West Midlands and 45250 was the replacement. A rather sad farewell to GWR steam in this case.

6697 was withdrawn 2 months later.

I was at Flitwick station one evening in the late 1980s when this 47 came speeding through with a neat matching rake of coaches. The headboard says "The Orcadian". It looks far too posh to be a rail enthusiasts special - does anyone know what the train was, please?

Six Bells Junction doesn't have a lot of info on the train, but it appears to have been run around the end of April/beginning of May 1989. It seems to have been a very upmarket train with 6 Mk3 sleepers as well as 10 other coaches - making 16 in all. Is it on the slow lines? That would make sense with a 47 in charge.

Other than that, I am as much in the dark as you are.

I think it was on the fast lines - I recall it was going pretty quickly, too. They must have chosen a good loco.

D1013 and D1023 on the wonderful, unforgettable 'Western Tribute' tour of Saturday, 26th February 1977, I was there that day but couldn't afford the ticket - photos by Julian Ogle and one of the train crew diagrams c/o Roger Geach....

Think it’s Harlington, rather than Flitwick, with the train on the up fast.
The diagram at https://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/spc2 has signal 117 there on the down fast, and the nameboard looks more like Harlington
