Biged4412
Hi all After searching for a number of years for Hull and Barnsley Railway locomotive kits I have come up blank and have decided to scratch build thees locomotives myself. I have obtained a number of plans and I am looking to start off with the Class L1 (LNER J28) and the Class F1 (LNER N11) What I am after is does anybody know of any suppliers in 4mm who have chassis which would match the wheel spacings of these locomotives? I have scratch built before and found this my biggest problem and was suggest to find a chassis already produced would be a good option. The wheel spacing I am after are attached in the pictures: F1 - (7, 6 - 7 - 2 - 7-10) 0-6-2T And the L1 - ( 9-3 _ 7-9) Tender 0-6-0 Any help would be very much appreciated thank you for any help in advance it's much appreciated. Kind regards Ed
micklner
Re the J28 have you seen this? He has a J28 available. Judging from comments no idea if any good .
jwealleans
Errr... that's the same poster, Mick. Alan Gibson Workshop do a large range of frames for different locomotives, if you can locate a prototype which matches your required spacing.
Biged4412
Ah right ill have a look at Alan Gibson is there anywhere that can tell me the spacing for the wheels as that is the part I'm struggling to find with the same wheel arrangement? jwealleans
I'm not well enough up to know them by heart, but the LNER Encyclopedia locomotive pages will tell you the wheelbases of all LNER owned classes.

Just total wheelbase unfortunately.
Thane of Fife
Evenin' all THe axle spacing of H&B will be shown in the RCTS books. I have the Q10 under construction in late 1920's 1930's configuration with round topped firebox. Malcolm
micknich2003
Malcolm, here's a Class A in original condition that I "Home Brewed" well over thirty years ago. 8
Traintresta
The LNER j classes tended to be a 7’3+9’ chassis IIRC. This is likely to be the closest you’ll get I think, have you thought about scratchbuilding your own chassis?
micknich2003
I don't have a F1 drawing but I do have numerous photo's.
Thane of Fife
Evenin' all Excellent Michnich! I model the thirties, by which time the Q10s had been reboilered. Also it's easier to build a round topped firebox. I have cut and shut two SEF J39 boilers to give the basic structure. Malcolm
