Meter rat
After lurking on here for a while now, and dabbling with a few bits and bobs, I thought it was time to introduce my little project. I was given some old box files by a friend, and looking at all the micro layouts, I thought I would have a go. It also fits on the table in the caravan. It is based on the proposed line, as mentioned in Ian Futters book, to Laxford Bridge in the North West Highlands. It is assumed that this was built and has survived the Beeching cuts due to the economic importance, with the time period in the late 60’s early 70’s. This is also my introduction to DDC and my first go at scratch building. Hopefully the station building is recognisable as being based on Wick. First the track plan, some of the station building and finally some stock posed.
RMweb Gold Russ (mines a pint) Posted June 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2019 good decision going with the pli lining in the boxfiles . There was a layout based on Laxford in the pre-grouping era in a really old RM possibly 1970's , cant remember what scale but it may have been 7mm or P4 amazing what you can fit in N , though I find it a bit fiddly. Good luck with the layout it looks good already

Meter rat
Spent a little time on this the last couple of days. I was not happy with the yard, as some of the gaps were to big, so I ripped it up and relaid it. I now need to solder the supply wires back on. A start has also been made on the cassettes and base for them. Photographs to follow.

Meter rat
The last couple of days has been case of two steps forward, three backward with the track laying. One point which locos was stalling on has been removed as it was damage. I’ve lost my flux, and the super glue has ran away with also, as I can’t find that. Remaking the station building as I was unhappy with it. I also started my first conversation of a Cricklewood allocated class 24 in to an Inverness based one. Modified frost panels, filling in the roof access and filling in the contrail water filler. I have to make two head code boxes and re-number to 5117.
JamesGWR101
Looking good so far. It's amazing how much space youv'e got to play with when you are modelling in N.
Meter rat
Got quite a bit done over the last couple of evenings. I finished laying the track, so all is a lot smoother and wiring it, made the first of the cassettes, and painted the class 24. I’m just waiting on the transfers. Two 24’s to repaint and number into 5113 and 5117. This one will be 5117. Most of the station building is compete, apart from the roof vents, and a final paint of the white.
