Eastleigh Yard had 3 working on Thursday, but apparently Friday was going to be the busiest day with lots of Depot movements as well as the usual Engineers and Freightliners etc.

Yes mate, REAL MODELLING and every thing scratch built including the Stock. George will remember most of the scenes, and I have spent many a happy hour on the Footbridge in the 70's, (1970's, NOT 1870's).

Indeed it was, there was about 30 to 40 Spotters there on Thursday, about 10 on Friday morning but I was only there for an hour early on, and about 15 or so Yesterday Lunch Time.
RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted October 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 6, 2019 Eastleigh.... spotter’s paradise, but basher’s nightmare as anything interesting on the inter-cities sailed through the centre roads.

So the idea with SDJR is - run Southern stock with LMS locos and LMS stock with Southern locos.

Pretty much the pattern of the line. The MR/LMS/LMR were responsible for the day to day motive power and the LSWR/SR/Southern Region for the coaching stock. So local sets were SR coaches with LMS locos. On summer Saturdays when there was a lot of through workings to the Midlands and the North the LMR locos would come off at Bath and be prepared to take the north bound returning holiday makers home. The SR provided the big locos needed for these trains as far as Bath when they would make the return journey with a train full of people hoping for some south coast sunshine in carriages from the Midlands etc. Giving time for the landladies in Bournemouth time to clean the rooms. It is this mix of stock and locos that attracts many modellers, aided by Ivor Peters wonderful photos. 1 2
