I've just heard about the strike action from West Midlands Railway.  I live in Lichfield and I don't have access to a car right now.  Does anyone know how to get from Lichfield to Birmingham International without a car or a West Midlands Trains Service on Saturday for half 8?

Set off on foot at half 8 the night before?

sorry!  couldn't resist!

Any chance you can get to the station* and ask before travelling? The person at the station would probably know more about what is happening.

Some trains may not be disrupted whilst others won't be running at all. The train from Lichfield Trent Valley HL and City goes to New Street. Change there for International. Normally a regular service, but it is WMT/LNWR so could be disrupted.

*Or stations in Lichfield.

Traveline suggests this with the "Rail" option unticked:

Tonight I printed out the floor plan and worked out my battle strategy.

One of the regular complains here on RMweb each year has been the lack of a decode for the ExhibitionStands List, to go alongside the listing by exhibitors.

i.e. Listing the stands from A-1 to E-41 as well as the list of exhibitors from A-Z.

It would help enormously in both planning ahead and in navigating around the hall on the day.

Sadly, it appears this repeated request either hasn't reached the ears of the club, or it's being ignored.

I know, first world problem etc, etc...

Still looking forward to the show though.

I've seen both lists - in block/number order and exhibitor A-Z order. But not in the same place....... One is in the exhibitors pack and one is on the exhibition webpage/floorplan.

I recall that both versions are usually in the program, but that's not helpful ATM.

Lots of full size exhibits already in place..Autocar arrived first, Birmingham Guy bus next, then the HAA then the Bllomer replica..and sometime during this things the PECO stand gained a narrow gauge locomotive!

Demo area requires the last tables to be draped then...breakfast beckons!!!

I just load it all into a database then manipulate as required.

I have a layout list and a separate traders list (in both alpha & numerical order).

I've done the same for years.

Unfortunately the list on the "map" doesn't work well in OCR due to the background shade.

About as helpful as one exhibition handbook I read years ago, which stated on the first page that "handbooks are available at the entrance to the exhibition" or similar.

Well just coming to the end of a night shift and will be heading out at around 1pm to help set up our club stand and really looking forward the week-end.

If you are passing stand  E11 (on the back wall) stop and have a chat.

I'll be the tired looking one.

Courtesy Paul Jones, a picture of the autocar in place.

Unfortunately, due to sudden family illness, I won't be able to attend, which is a bitter disappointment, but many key players in the restoration will be there if you have any questions. We also have a guidebook fresh from the printers and a DVD about the restoration on sale (stand B39). BTW, how many sticks of chalk or rolls of masking tape for marking out do you think they use? Big hall, big show, big exhibits (except for the T gauge layouts!).

Agreed. It should be done and the is no reason why it hasn't been done. I would post it here myself but I'm at the NEC today and the data required isn't available to me here. Sorry about that.

(you can see one chock in the photo ;) )

Chocked both sides of the wheel behind the chairs - and the brake lever is pinned down too.
