And this was Saturday

I think that he was prepared to camp rather than trying to get out of the car park on a Saturday night but this year there was no concert so no horrible queue!

Does anyone know if the Bloomer will be fitted with the small "spectacle plate" or "half a cab"?

Thanks Mike,

I've just looked at the thread for this layout. Good grief!

Is the NEC big enough?

Graham

As long as one of the Motorcycle Live halls is relinquished for it, yes !

Kev.

From the few details published it looks like a half cab (don't quote me!)

If you want the very minimum there is this replica, now in Milton Keynes museum:

1009_Wolverton.jpg

Wikipedia says this:

"A full-size working engine as in original Southern Division condition (pre-1862) was begun at Tyseley in 1986 and was 90% completed by 1990. It has never been finished (2019). Several rather vague articles have appeared in recent magazines (e.g. 'Heritage Railway') suggesting that work may recommence soon, with the intention of completing it by 2019"

Who won best rucksack in show? Just wondering, like.

The only criticism from Sarah about the show was being constantly struck with rucksacks by people with....and I quote “no bl00dy spatial awareness or regards for other people”

Which she said out loud after being struck for the third time by the same chap who quickly scuttled off

Certainly was for those approaching from the station.

Yeah, full walk-through scanner! Why did I not see this at other entrances, i.e. where the buses drop and collect?

Those with smallish day sacks hanging over one shoulder seemed to be OK, the ones with "full size both straps over the shoulders as if they were on a 25 mile hike, carrying my tent" types are just inconsiderate.

You’re quite right about the small ones not being a problem.

We did wonder if some had just dropped by the show on the way to a arctic expedition or they were camping on the NEC car park :laugh_mini2:

Incidentally, was there any security checks of bags?

Scanners and a sniffer dog on Sunday morning, sniffing bags held out to him.

The scanner was in the porch way as you entered the building, having got off the bus, top left of your picture.

For those of us who came by train it was in the doorway of some doors in the long corridor which connected the NEC to Birmingham International station.

I've not really seen much on the "South Town" layout here. Does anyone have any more info?

Stewart

Hi Stewart

Were they causing a problem in the expensive car park, knocking the heads off junior school children with their back packs or clearing space for themselves with their odour? If not they won't get reported on here as far as I can see.

It is a good layout, I saw it at Spalding and enjoyed watching it but any GER/LNER/BR (ER)  based layout is on a winner to start with.

One of our team got stopped and searched and escorted to the hall due to suspect items carried about their person. :biggrin_mini2:

This is the entrance right outside Hall 5.

Looks like the guy in the front had

encountered one of the unwashed.
