A small brewery measuring 4ft by 1ft with an additional 1ft fiddleyard. I recently took it to the Midlands small layout showcase and decided that it needed a longer fiddleyard. This has now evolved into 4ft extension that is 16 inches wide at the opposite end due to my poor impulse control and inability to not buy shiny things when I go to model shops. It is due to be shown at the St Johns Charity Exhibition towards the end of next month so i have quite a bit of work to do on the scenics before then.

And a lovely layout it is too.

Is the track plan a fork with a kickback siding?

Thank you, very much! It is a fork with a kick back meaning I have to 'run the loco around' to get wagons into the other loading bay, the other half has an inglenook and single track fiddleyard hidden behind the backscene.  I'll try and upload some more photos, I'm having trouble with the image links at the moment.

Nice loking layout, I like the use of Metcalfe kits, especiaally the view blocker at the front. The weathered locos look good too. Love to see some more photo's.

Thanks for the kind words, I'll start a build log for the new half. So far the track is down and wired up. There's lots more stock to weather and buildings to paint as I'm using some Walthers buildings on the new side.

I've done a little more work on the new half now. Next step is to paint the buildings and add the Metcalf cobbles to all of the cork areas then clad the loading bay in plasticard.  The fiddle yard is only really there to take the loco and assembled train off scene and allow the loco to move around the wagon for the brewery side shunting moves.

A little more work has taken place now but still lots to do. I have started painting the buildings and added the backscene so its starting to come together. I'm trying to decide between properly modelling the interiors on the buildings or using the printed pics inside or some combination of both. The two buildings in the foreground might be moved as im not totally sold on their location just yet. Any comments or suggestions are welcome, i need to have this in some semblance of completion in two weeks as it's going to a show!

More work has been done on the layout but between a new job and a baby due in 2 weeks I've not posted any updates for a while. The layout attended an exhibition at St John's primary school in Trent Vale and e everything worked as it should which was nice :) . I will take some more pics when I've set it up in my nerd room again later next week. I did take a pic of the layout put together as we set up at the exhibition but my photography skills aren't up to much!

Cheers

Carl

I’ve started adding people to the new side of the layout to bring a bit of life to it. I also picked up lots of crates etc from Skytrex and a few other sellers at the Crewe exhibition so that’s all being painted and added this week too. The figure all need a little matting down with some varnish or powder but quite happy with them so far.
