Senalizacion
If one removes the DCC chip from a 'DCC with Sound loco', does the loco become DCC ready and can it then be used on traditional DC layout?

Assuming the DCC with sound loco is just a sound decoder plugged into the DCC socket, you would need a blanking plate for the DCC socket first. And then it should just be a DCC ready loco. However, if it's one of the more complex sound locomotives, such as a Suttons Class 24, then it could be much more complicated.

The answer would be yes as long as you fit a blanking plug to the socket of the same type as the number of pins attached to the sound decoder! Simple to do Edited July 2, 2019 by johnd
