BernardTPM
Corgi never did that later Escort van in a small size, though there was a 00 Mk.1 van in the Trackside range. Unfortunately it was copied off a circa 1970 Corgi model and the roof is too low.

G They made that one in 1/43 scale. They made a Mk. II Escort van in 1/72 scale Trackside series.

I had the toy as a kid and it’s either 1/36 or 1/43 as stated by someone else. Those were standard wheels on that size of corgi car in the 80s.
BernardTPM
I think it was their then standard 1/36. Had they shrunk it for their Trackside range it would have proved popular, I think. Edited July 12, 2019 by BernardTPM
ChrisH-UK
The Escort Kombi looks to be the same wheelbase as Oxford's XR3i, seems like it wouldn't be too hard to 'cut and shut'. I know it's a Mk3 rather than a Mk4 (apparently the Mk4 was considered a facelifted mk3 by Ford?) but it gets you closer, possibly just a little bit of cosmetic fakery at the front end? Does anyone know if the Kombi lift gate is the same angle at the hatchback? That would be another part that could be reused.

I agree with Ford. There were just two FWD Escorts*, the 1980 and 1990 versions, both with several revisions. The full van has the shorter door of the 5-door hatch so it might be easier to cut the front off at the correct length and scratchbuild the back. The Kombi & Estate are both 5 inches longer than the hatch and with a different angle. Fun fact: the Estate rear lights were used on the Convertible. *European models, that is. The US ones were Mazda based, though they started off looking similar (but not identical once you looked harder).
