Simond
I have never understood the perceived advantage(s) of a straight cucumber. (Actually, saying that in a clipped BBC 1968 announcer voice is good enough on its own) i slice or dice or create batons from my cucumbers, none of which require the fruit to have a particular geometric form. It’ll be a sad day when cucumbers are sliced or diced or machined into batons by automata... atb Simon

The confusing of fly shunting with fly swatting, symptomatic of over nudging. Now I'm confused. A swat isn't a shunt but a shunt is an overnudge? Andy *Extreme shunting should only be carried out by trained professionals and certainly should not be attempted at home unsupervised. edit for nudging the wrong letter in, nudging one out and a punctuation nudge too. RMweb Gold Tony Teague Posted July 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2019 I must say that the use of an implement, such as a cucumber as illustrated by Mikkel, does seem especially 'continental', although I suppose it does avoid the necessity of washing one's hands, post-nudge. 1

Never caught on fortunately.
Simond
But that would at least be useful, even if unnecessary. now, if the tube in which the cucumber were to be grown straight could also make it square, or better, rectangular ( With perhaps a 3:1 aspect ratio) in cross section... 1
Simond
Or better, with a little genetic engineering, a device that allows vegetables & fruit to be grown as extrusions, such that you can simply slice off as much as you need, and the rest stays on the plant... 1
