Midland-based Coaling Stage

Thanks to photos in books of railways about Buxton and with help from a plan drawn by @queensquare of this parish, I have built a representative model of the stage at Buxton Midland loco shed  that was demolished in 1935 when the shed moved to the North Western side.

A shell was cut from 2mm grey board. Three walls were 2 layers thick. Scalescenes' brick paper was used to cover the shell.

The lintel and drain pipes came from Scalescenes' loco shed kit. The front was clad in Plastikard planking.

The roof slates are from the now defunct 3D-CD.

And finally with the ground scatter in place.

I hadn't realised that I haven't put up a photo of the finished coaling stage. The ground was covered with setts as it was highly unlikely that the floor would have been ballast. A coaling crane has been made thanks to a drawing by @queensquare
