Recommended Posts

I have been busy doing a bit of weathering. First to get mucky was a Heljan 25.

Then a couple of EWS 60's. 60085 is mine whereas 60018 was weathered for a friend.

I have also done a bit to a triple grey 60. I re-sprayed the lower Rail Grey area as the Heljan grey is a bit too dark. Then I added a set of Loadhaul transfers from Fox. The triangular bit behind the cabs is not long enough as on this loco it goes onto the roof section slightly. Thankfully I had a couple of these orange triangles spare in a box. I am still waiting for the Severnmill nameplates but when they are on this will get a good mucking up.

And a couple of pictures of the 3 together.

Now I have been getting a bit filthy today. I have tried to copy from a couple of pictures I have of 60070 which is the dirtiest 60 I think I have seen. Don't know why all the muck stuck around the nameplate on this side.

Cracking Brian, superb!

I think that the weather (rain) seems to have gotten in and around the exhaust and all the clagg and detritus has washed down onto/around the nameplate?

It was good to say hello to a few faces over the weekend. I will put a couple of pics of the 3 painted TC coaches as soon as I have glued the windows in the FK and BSK which is going to be a bit of a boring job but has to be done. That will just leave the last driving coach to paint.

I have just striped down and got in primer the Heljan 128 that was on their stand over the weekend. BR Blue it is as if you did not know!

the whole unit looks great, but the attention to detail inside is really something else!

The gangways look really good too, well worth the effort

Its those little silver lights by the mirrors in the compartment that brought back memories for me. Must have seen them 1000s of times without ever taking any notice - or so I thought!

Bought this Bolster C at Reading from M&M and have been busy ever since. It's from the old DA kits range if you remember them from about 30 years ago! They are ok but basic. I am now adding a few Archer rivets to the solebar to see if that helps. They have included a very nice laser cut wood deck for it but if I use it then the bolsters are raised up too much so will just make do with the etched deck. I have changed the vac pipe and lamp bracket for Slaters items. The coupling hook is from CPL. Unfortunately the buffers are solid, anyone know who does a self contained sprung version? The bolsters had the two uprights cast on in whitemetal and needless to say they went for a burton very easily so they are replaced with brass wire. The cast tiedown loops on the solebar have the round loop dangling nicely but I put three of them up the other way so the loops are up in the air ready to take a chain to secure a load later. When finished it will look very nice in a mixed freight trundling round and round.
