tomstaf
Hi Brian, Thanks for those. Yes, we'll have to sort running them out. Regarding the wagon label clip - have a look here: http://web271.webgo24-server4.de/Gambio/gx2/product_info.php?info=p51_zettelkaesten--breit-3-paar-nr-35.html Cheers Tom

brian daniels
The nice postie delivered a packet from Germany with the Petau detail parts for the IGA and very nice they are too. One problem though is that I have to send them 20.40 Euro and the banks would charge that amount to transfer it into their bank account. I think I will stick 25 Euro in notes into an envelope and hope for the best. Shame they don't do Paypal or take cards! I dread to think what shape the red etches are going to be when I have cut them out! Fine or what. I see they have painted the made-up small label holders in black but I think they are generally plain silver, unpainted.
JeffP
Wow! Sending money abroad: try HiFX, cheaper than banks, but not by that much any more. Depends how often you want to do it. Tip: sending cash: either send it signed for, (no-one will tamper with it then), or place two THIN sheets of card either side of the € notes to disguise them. I've done it and got away with it, sent FF500 once.
brian daniels
I too was thinking of using a couple of bits of card to send the money off Jeff. Well I have bent and soldered up the lamp brackets, cut out and glued up the brake changeover levers and made up a couple of wagon label holders. I have also added the 4 small half round wire loops on the ends. So with all done it's off to the paint shops with it. By the way the brake changeover levers are not fitted on yet, wait till it's painted for that. Forgot to mention that there are 2 types of the lever that goes on the left, a square one or a T shaped one. brian daniels
I have painted the IGA and the Allbright And Wilson PCA but the paint is still a bit tacky on the PCA. The Phoenix paint don't half take a long time to dry and has a funny wiff to it! But it covers very well and the colours look ok. I have glued the Petau brake changeover levers on now. Next job is to put all the transfers on.

CME and Bottlewasher
Cracking work Brian. I have found the same with their paints - shortish shelf life too, for some of their products... ATVB CME
JeffP
Brian, looking at the pics of the real wagons, their buffers have a distinct curve either on the sides, or top and bottom. Those on the model are square.
45157
Very nice, it is indeed all in the detail. Looking at the prototype pics, the weathering will be a project on its own. regards Stewart
brian daniels
I am modelling late 70's early 80's and this batch was built in 1983 so I don't think I should weather it. But it would look nice wouldn't it.
brian daniels
Finished putting all the transfers on the IGA and PCA although the PCA should have a Tiger logo but I can't see anyone that does them. They both still need varnishing. Must say the IGA has the wow factor The IGA still needs the UIC style couplings that John Talbot is getting soon. Those Petau bits I got for the IGA look spot on.
RMweb Gold Dan Randall Posted September 25, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 25, 2012 Hi Brian Will your Peter Clark "Thumper" be taking its place on the workbench soon? Regards Dan
brian daniels
Possibly Dan but I am still deciding what to get etched to tart it up a bit. I want to go to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway as they have a 207 but I could do with some details in the engine room to improve the Steve Beattie resin engine block. I know it could do with some luggage racks etching above the seats.

Western Star
Hi Brian, I like the clarity of the lettering on the most recent vehicles. On the assumption that the lettering is water-slide transfer, please write a bit about how you prepare the painted surface before applying the transfer, what products you might use to ease the task of applying the transfer and how you protect the transfer against wear and tear. regards, Graham

Photos = superb work as always - would a light 'dusting' be appropriate to replicate a week or two in traffic? ATVB CME
tomstaf
Hi Brian, Your IGA has turned out very nicely. It's partner in crime is coming along now that I've finished all those cable ties; But I'm still waiting on the Petau bits (how did you manage to order yours after me and get them first lol). We'll have to pair them up soon. Cheers Tom P.S. Do you know where you can get spare 7mm Brawa wheels from?
brian daniels
All them bits under the sill do take a bit of patience don't they Tom. I had to use a marker pen to put A, B, and C on the respective holes to make sure I got the right bit in the right hole. When you ordered your Petau bits did you select to pay by bank transfer? I had them send an invoice in the order and I just sent off 25 Euro in an envelope. Of coarse maybe they knew I was so far advanced with my IGA build and thought he must be desperate for them? Maybe they are following this thread! I have no idea where you can get Brawa wheels Tom.

The other way that I use often is send in a "Photographs do not bend" envelope, a little heavier for postage but hey, who wants to pinch a photo of somebody they do not know? I have sent cash to the states and Japan this way several times without a problem.
Vin
Hi Brian, Great wagons. The Tiger logos are available from Precision labels pack D17-A. They include the small ownership logos in yellow and red below the main 'Tiger'. Regard Vin
brian daniels
Thanks for the heads up on the Tiger transfers Vin but looking at the Precision Labels one it looks too large and it's mostly black whereas the PCA ones are all yellow I think.
