dg40014
Hi CME, thank you for the ideas about glazing, much appreciated.
brian daniels
What I have been using for glazing for quite a while is what Howes sold that was from Bayer according to what I can make out on the protective film. But I too will be after some more stuff so will have to ask Peter Cowling at Telford if he has anything with him. I have done a little bit more on the 37. I have removed the boiler access panel on the bodyside No2 end and I also removed and lowered the boiler exhaust blanking etch. Cab door handrails are all bent up but not glued in just yet as I think it would be better to spray it without them in to get the paint into the door recess. I have had a go at representing the cast bogie sideframe by removing the lip around the edge of the sideframe and then adding Pete Harvey's etched bits.

brian daniels
Made a representation of the bracket job on the front corners of the "cast" bogie. I have also had the primer out so I can now see where to rub it down and re-fill a few bits on the body. So in the mean time whilst paint and filler dries I got on and made up the other jumper cables on the TC that fix onto the bufferbeams. I soldered the two whitemetal castings to a piece of tin that now nicely sticks to the magnet that I have recessed into the bufferbeam. I know the rectangular hole made with a round drill won't win any prizes but it is covered up when on the track.

Popular Post brian daniels
Finally painted one DTSO, only 3 more coaches to go. The seat covers are a self adhesive vinyl from Precision Labels, the pattern is there but a bit hard to see but it might show up better when I get some lights in these. I have also been painting the Heljan ETH 37425 conversion but am still waiting for some numbers from Rail-Tec so will put a pic up when it's finished. Jon Fitness
That looks wonderful Brian. You're really starting to see the results of your efforts with this project. Brilliant stuff. One question. Those curtains look spot on..what did you use please? Jon F.
HealeyMills
Brian, That looks superb!! Are the ETH connectors the JLTRT ones? Cheers Lee
brian daniels
Don't know why I put a picture on twice above, oops. Anyway here are a couple more of it. Jon the curtains are just orange Crepe paper cut to size, some straight cut to represent a hanging curtain and some cut to look like they are pinned back in the holder. The window glazing for the main windows is the injection moulded ones from Easybuild. I might try some perspex on another coach to see if it looks clearer. ETH connectors on the front are indeed from the JLTRT class 33 with a little brass cover soldered on the bit under the drivers side bufferbeam. Deano747
Looks very realistic, great work! I like the stains on a couple of the seats. Nice touch! Regards, Deano.
RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted August 30, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 30, 2016 Crepe paper is a touch of genius, looks perfect, as for the windows leave them on that carriage and put it down to faulty ventilation resulting in condensation, must get the depot to look at it next change of turn
steve1023
S76275 - the real one has just been/in the process of receiving blue/grey livery right now at St Leonard's. Superb work by the way.....

brian daniels
Well the TC can now get the other coaches painted, so that's going to take a while. In the mean time I did get round to painting the new Heljan 37 ETH re-furbishment. At the moment it's still a bit glossy as I am waiting for some number transfers from Rail-tec and once they are on I will tone it down and weather it.
brian daniels
Those that saw me at Telford saw I was building a pre-production JLTRT Warwell kit. Well I have finished building it with all the bits I had plus a few others to get it this far. It is still short of some tie down lugs that go under the solebars at the ends and these will be sent on soon. I have added Slaters lampirons and a modified vac pipe. I also added the small etched rings on the top to tie the load down to and an etched wagon label clip. The bogies are straight forward to do and if you are sparing with the superglue they do work, and mine do!!!!! As it comes it has a hollow deck but I will add some wood strip to it after painting to cover the hole.
bobster
Very nice Brian - That is a big wagon, makes the FV 434 look small in comparison, but the real vehicle is quite a lump. Cheers, Bob.
HealeyMills
Hi Brian, It was nice to chat with you at Telford. I must say that tractor looks very good, albeit a bit clean Cheers Lee
brian daniels
Don't forget the MoD vehicle is to 1:48 scale. Nice to see you Lee and yes I can't wait to get it toned down. I built the JLTRT MDV this afternoon! Took about 5 hours.
RMweb Gold Revolution Mike B Posted September 9, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 9, 2016 That Tractor looks bloody brilliant Brian! Incidentally, I found out last night that you work for the same employer as one of my good friends - I was talking to him about your TC and when I mentioned your name he said, I know him! His name is Mark Grady and he works out of Eastleigh.
