CME and Bottlewasher
Seeing as the weather is on full dull settings I got down and made my BVS10 Viking. Went together well but I have added two ariel bases on the rear of the front unit and wing mirror to the front unit both from my ASAM Warrior kit. To answer CME I think you can see the detail on these resin models is very good. My ASAM 432 was a resin model as well with white metel details and they look spot on to me, although that's probably because I don't know much about military vehicles. These Vikings were built from 2001 I see so a modern vehicle which is a bit out of place on a vac braked Warflat but ok in an OCA! You can see the rear of one of these in the attached OCA picture. Very nice Brian! Thanks for the info and comments. Ive been in a 'BV', clever little machines. The resin models certainly look the part. What happens to the blanks in the window apertures? brian daniels
Warrior and Viking are now painted and varnished just a hint of weathering on the tracks to do later. Also added the extensions on the Warwell and brass section to raise the cradle off the deck. It is on these spare bogies as I don't have the correct ones yet. And the viking on a vac Warflat but this will be carried in an OCA. By the way the windows are just painted black. brian daniels
Too hot to do much modelling but I have been soldering this up, a Pete Harvey class 37/9 roof etch. It's for a Mirrlees 37901 or 37902. Once soldered up the hardest bit is to cut a big hole in the roof a 37! Once I got it in I found the inner end by the rad fan fouled the Heljan fan unit so I filed this ends vertical support down until it was flush with the bodys roof inside. The fan unit will only have 2 screws to hold in in now but hope that will be ok. As Heljan had just sent me a 37/4 to run they also sent a spare body so thought it would be a shame to waste it! So after cutting off the ETH on the bottom of the nose there are a few steps and a window need filling on the sides and a cutout on one side needs filling. Most of the 37/4's do not have headboard clips so neither does the model but these 37/9's do so it was a rummage round the spares box to find a set which I think were from JLTRT. I will be doing this in plain grey livery. By the way the etch also comes with a set of etched nameplates for Mirrlees Pioneer.

Some have found their way into the civilian market; one was used as personnel transport during the rebuilding of the sea-defences outside Dover a couple of years ago. HullCityB17
So any chance of a BD Review of the HJ Class 37/4 please or are you still detailing this up like the Class 50?

Silverstreak
I do believe this body is the final shot at it. Well that's it, I wont be wasting money on one Wait for MM1 to reintroduce the ex JLTRT 37 far more accurate

brian daniels
Yes I will have it with me and might have 37057 that I have cut the bufferbeam away and generally tarted it up for L/L livery.
D6775
Looking forward to seeing 407 now Brian. 901 looks excellent.
brian daniels
To hot to do much these days but I did get Heljans forthcoming 34/7 37407 finished. Also converted an old split headcode 37 to the cutaway bufferbeam version with a PH Designs etched bufferbeam. The buffers are very old ones from Walsal Wheels I believe. All the pipes are still Heljan's. Had to fill a couple of steps in on the bodyside.
brian daniels
PH Designs have done his own miniature snowploughs that have a little finger on the top that locates over the lip under his etched class 37 replacement bufferbeams. If you don't need this fixing method you can file these down and then have a flat top to fix under a bufferbeam via a 8 ba sized hole. Here they are just hanging under the bufferbeam of 37057 above. I could not solder them on properly unfortunately as 37057 did not have them. When making these you have to solder the supporting frame onto the rear of the plough. To do this I solder one leg on first then screw it onto a jig via an 8 ba screw then looking to check the outside edge is at 90 degrees with the piece I soldered on the bar, solder up the other leg. This jig was made a while back for JLTRT ploughs that come right up to the face I soldered on at 90 degrees, but as the support frame is in a slightly different place on these hence there is a little gap between plough outer edge and bracket. brian daniels
Thought it about time I did an update! I have been getting on with my Mercian Models PWM Shunter. I have added horns from MMP, Marker lights from MMP 08 Detailing Pack, Headlight from Günther (HO part!), Windscreen wipers from JLTRT. I have also narrowed the cab roof as it overhung the sides by too much. I also added the L shaped lifeguard under the bufferbeam by attaching it to the chassis with a piece of U Chanel. If you soldered this to the bufferbeam you wont get the chassis past it to dismantle the modelThe model was supplied short of handrail knobs so I am waiting to see if Mercian will supply the missing handrail knobs so I can finish off the handrails. I am going to paint this yellow as PWM 97651 and I am getting Railtec to do the transfers for this.

brian daniels
Very nice Brian! How does one place and order with Railtec, I can never get a reply.... ATVB, CME. I just filled in the get in touch form and asked if he could do the transfers for me. He did reply fairly promptly so maybe he's got a quiet period? Are those vehicles from the Honourable Lead Boilersuit Company? Edited August 17, 2018 by brian daniels

brian daniels
Finished the Mercian Models PWM, well apart from the cab interior. The cab roof is only a tight fit so I can get in easily for detailing later. Had to put the chevron on the cab end on in 5 parts to get round the windows. The cadside numbers and red arrows were done by Railtec and very nice they are too. Railtec also did the worksplate but there is an etched one supplied in the kit. A couple of thing I used to improve the kit were JLTRT self contained buffers, sandboxes from a peak and their windscreen wipers, MMP horns, 08 marker lights and Günther HO cast headlight and C&L screw couplings and apart from the MMP bits you can't get any of the other stuff now which is a right pain now!
