Popular Post terry.ecmr
My latest exhibition layout Rossiter Rise made its debut at the Beaconsfield show yesterday. OO gauge/4mm scale Model Railway Rossiter Rise is a fictitious through station based in North West London, somewhere in an arc between the Western Avenue in the west and Edgware Road in the north. It it set in the mid-late 1950’s. It consists of two main tracks running through the station which depict electrified tracks using the 4 rail system. Trains on these are mainly ex LNWR/LMS electrics, together with the later BR version. To the rear of this is a through, non-electrified bay platform, which usually has push/pull trains, dmu’s etc. In front of the main platforms is a terminating London Transport bay. This is designed to be used by various types of LT stock. In front of the station is a small LT depot. The layout has been designed to be operated by 2 people with the intention of giving the viewing public plenty of moving trains! Many of the buildings are scratch-built. Others are ‘kit-bashed’ whilst some are kits or ‘ready to plant’ items that have been modified and detailed. The inspiration for the layout is extensive and varied. Such locations as Willesden, Harrow & Willesden, Watford Junction, Drayton Park, Lillie Bridge, Acton Central, Richmond, the eastern end of the Central Line, have all come to mind. I'll post more photos and details soon. Exhibitions booked for the remainder of this year are: 26/27th October Cheltenham 3rd November Epping Plus 2020 & 2021 bookings. StephenB
I’ve just come back from the Cheltenham model railway exhibition, where the best of a good bunch was Rossiter Rise. Admittedly not my part of London, but I could associate with it. Congratulations to Mike Walker on another good show, raising money for worthwhile causes. terry.ecmr
Thanks Stephen for the kind words about Rossiter Rise . The Cheltenham show is always pretty good. Mike works hard to get 10 or so good layouts twice a year. And it's all for charity. Only Rossiter Rise's second show and I'm still tweaking things a bit. But the response from the punters was extremely good. Off to Epping on November 9th then a break until Stafford in February. During that time I will be completing additional stock and making a viewing slot so you will be able to see inside the currently hidden LT depot shed.

RMweb Gold Strathwood Posted October 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 10, 2020 Come on Terry what have you been up to lately? Kevin
terry.ecmr
Hi Kevin Managed to exhibit Rossiter Rise at Stafford prior to lockdown but obviously all other exhibitions this year have been cancelled. I have still been tweaking stock for the layout but have started work on the next project. 'TELLINDALLICH in Autumn' Scottish branch line (ex GNSR) set in early autumn in the period 1950-1965. Very different to my previous layouts....no urban buildings and about 50 trees! Got any plans for book releases featuring Scotland in that period? Hope you are keeping well
Richmond Park
Hi Terry, Firstly, congratulations on creating such a fantastic layout. The overall look is spot on in my view, there is so much detail in a relatively small space. I particularly like the terrace houses which I understand were scratch built. Quick question if I may please, where did you get the railing from which runs between the depot and station? I’ve been looking for something like this. Cheers Matt
sb67
Thanks for bringing the layout to the Epping show on Saturday 13th Nov. Rossiter Rise looks every bit as good as pics I've seen of it. There's so much detail to look at and it really gives a 'London' atmosphere. The retaining walls and 'Rillington Place' all add to that. I'm pleased I found the interior views of the house with the door open and the workshop, the forced perspective used really works well. Also good to meet you and thanks for sharing some of your methods, I'll look forward to seeing your next totally different project.
