Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. This is my new layout ( was minieade ). I wasn't happy with minieade so I changed it to this little layout. It's a small terminus layout with run round loop and a goods siding, the fiddle yard will be a simple stick that plugs in at the left hand side. Here is a quick photo of work so far: All track is second hand which I have cleaned up and it runs great, I'm going to build this layout as cheap as possible but to a reasonable standard, I got a box full of 10 various Metcalfe and some other buildings for £4 from a car boot which was a real bargain and some of these will be added to the layout. The length is 2' 6" and width will be determined when I get the station in etc. So far the baseboard has cost me £6 and track £7 so £13 total so far. More soon. Jerry. Jerry1975
Thanks OOman, it's going to be an interesting project, I'm on a very tight budget for this so some things will have to be from free kits in magazines or stuff from the spares box or I find cheap at shows/ car boot. Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. Just a quick update, I have now painted the baseboard, pinned all track and painted the track sides. Here is a quick photo ( poor quality ): More soon. Jerry.
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted July 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13, 2019 Nice work Jerry. It’s always nice to get the board painted, track laid and weathered.
Jerry1975
Thanks, figuring out what buildings to use next and place them onto the layout to get a sense of how it will look. Total cost so far £14. Jerry.
Bill_J
I too have a collection of free buildings from magazines , collected over the years. They're for a one day layout. That's the layout I will build - "one day" Good luck with this one, I will keep an eye out for progress...
Jerry1975
Thanks Bill_j. Some of the free buildings are pretty good, I also got some from a car boot for a bargain. Jerry.
Jerry1975
Hi everyone. I have been placing some buildings on the layout to get an idea of how it may look. I'm undecided which one looks best, photo 1 or photo 2. Here are a couple of photos: Photo 1 Photo 2. Which do you guys and girls think? Jerry.

Marly51
It starts coming together, Jerry, once you see buildings in relation to the track! Marlyn
Jerry1975
Thanks for all of your replies everyone. I have decided to botch together a small goods shed from a water tower kit I got for 40p and a small loading platform left over from a previous kit. I got the idea from budget railways on youtube, I will post some photos later as out shopping at the moment. I think this will look better and I wanted a goods shed rather than just a coal siding. Thanks everyone for your input. Jerry.
Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. Here is a few photos of the goods shed I bodged together today. Test fitting. Adding goods platform. Getting there. It still needs some work and was bodged together from a Metcalfe water tower I got for 40p and a goods platform from a previous layout, I cut away quite a bit of the water tower and added strengtheners. More soon. Jerry.

Jerry1975
Thanks OOman and Bill_j for your replies and nice comments. I have done a bit more work to the goods shed, added a valance/roof and a figure plus some boxes. Here's a couple of photos: In situ on the layout. Photo of the rear of the goods shed. I just need to tidy it up a bit and paint the white lines, a small water tower is next which will be made from leftovers of this model plus a few bits from the spares box. More soon. 1722
The goods shed, Jerry, is excellent. A cracking kitbash well executed. Where do you find all of these cheap resources?!?
Jerry1975
Thanks 1722. I got lucky at a car boot sale, a bloke was selling of various items from his fathers layout and just wanted rid of it. He had a plastic storage box full so I asked how much are the buildings, expecting him to say £5 each or something and got a real surprise when he said you can have the lot for £4, there was 10 various buildings so I snapped them up, I just want rid of them he said. It's amazing what you can find if you look at car boots, table top sales, model railway shows and even very occasionally in charity shops.
