If there's a business out there that can make a good model of a class 74 - or anything else that ran on rails - I suspect it would sell. Irresistible to comment on this:

That while this is true, so also I suspect is: we modellers seem to like models of the one-off and limited prototypes with small numbers, so much so that there are far more models of these running around than there were actual prototypes...

We like models. Make a good one, and 'they will come'. Probably best to wait a good while until there are no new 71s kicking around, in this case.

Class 89 would sell better than a 74.

If theres an opportunity in this...

And

if Hornby is still sat on a pile of class 71’s...

Then maybe do a deal with Silver Fox (or someone) to do a one off run of 74’s resin bodies as a one off collectors edition and mount them on Hornby 71 chassis and source cables, glazing etc from the 71 bodies.

Then sell the pantographs on.

Doubt it would be less than £200 though.

Well Silver Fox make both. I've seen quite a few Class 74s but yet to see one Class 89.

There might be a reason for this. Possibly there are others like me who, although having wishlists, find themselves keen to get something they never knew they wanted until it is announced. Perhaps there are quite a few disappointed people who signed up for a 74 who now want one, although they didn’t particularly before the announcement.

Both the SIlver Fox body and Hornby chassis need a good bit of work to mate together....

They're all the same ones. Most of them have Silver Fox's website address on them. Two others are a second hand example at Hatton's.

Not evidence of demand I'm afraid.
