darren chpamn
Hi I'm looking at building a modular layout and wanted to know what would be the best system to use. Would like to display as part of a bigger modular layout
mdvle
Easy answer, find a club/organization near you that has a modular layout that you can join and then use whatever standard they have decided on. Otherwise decide do you want to create a layout that you like and hope that you can participate in a larger layout in the future, or do you want to try and start your own modular layout group / club? For the former, then decide which of the 2 main options appeal to you - the "racetrack" style of traditional n-trak or the more realism oriented free-mon. If the latter, then try seeing what interest you find from people in your area.
RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted July 17, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2019 Depending on where you are there are at least three NMRA groups that have N gauge modular groups that may be of interest.
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted July 18, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2019 The East Midlands based Black Diamonds, Worcester based Snake Bend and Yorkshire Area Group of the N Gauge Society meet several times a year to run trains on a FreeMo based modular layout. You can find some of the layouts on YouTube. e.g. Steven B.

RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted July 18, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2019 The Thamesiders in Essex also have N scale modules and there is a N scale group in Felixstowe as well
Zomboid
I think there's an N scale group in Gosport, too.
