.... how do you operate the turntable?

Steve.

The simple answer is that I don't. The turntable is largely built out of plastic and though the rails are metal they aren't wired up. It is possible to rotate the turntable by hand to pose it for photography but even if it were possible to move it remotely I doubt that wagons would stay on without some form of gadget to stop them rolling away.

Here are a few more snaps I took yesterday.

May I ask you what are the dimensions of your masterpiece ? Thanks.

Thank you, the scenic part is 37cm x 24.5cm and folds down to 7cm when dismantled and the box folded flat.

I love just how much character that passenger train has, really shines on such a small layout.

How did you make the carriage, is it a cut and shut of the Hornby freelance ones?

The carriage (and I assume you mean the one in the last photo) is indeed a cut and shut Hornby job but with some windows blanked out to create the guards compartment.  It runs on a similarly cut down Playcraft brake van chassis. However the Hornby carriage isn't freelance, it's based, albeit very loosely, on an SDJR example. See here.
