Possibly this set's last day!

BN05; BN07; & BN10 (this one) reported as being taken off lease, and "It is likely that BN10 will run its final passenger services on 3 or 4 July"

Along with 91121 'Celebrating Pride'

and 91126 'Darlington Hippodrome'

A GBRf 66 (66717) dragged a rake up from Bounds Green to Worksop on Saturday whilst I was there, I believe it was set BN05 with DVT 82210 which has lost LNER branding.

LNER have confirmed which 91s are staying and which are going, the ones staying will be: 91101/105-107/109-111/114/127 and 130. With 91119 due for withdrawal in September

Heres a couple of shots of 91119 I got over the last week:

Until they trip out the power supply.

When GNER used the Eurostar sets they were barred from working south of Peterborough during rush hours due to the current draw on the OHLE

91119 seems to be popular and I managed to get a DSLR camera back in October 2020 and so I decided to attempt to get 91119 in a better shot. The results payed off and here it is powering through Huntingdon on a service to Leeds on the 27th of October 2020. And while I’m at it I might as well add a photo of 91114 at Offord Cluny on January 1st 2021 in the fading light.

That pic shows what a difference the white skirt makes - it emphasises the 'pointiness' of the design so much better than black or other dark colours. Makes me wonder why the livery designers didn't do it, it highlights the sleekness and pointy front end rather than just the sloped top part, as per the original design, rather than making it look like just part of the underframe.

Just found this article regarding the LNER 91:

"Class 91s hauling Mk 4s will remain with London North Eastern Railway until 2023. [...] The extension is until the end of 2023 while LNER sources brand new trains, which would take a minimum of around two years to build and deliver. The operator has previously told RAIL it needs around six new trains."

A procurement process for 10 new trains went out in the first half of 2021.  I don't see anything announcing who if anyone won the bidding - odds on it would be Hitachi for fleet standardisation but it may also have been cancelled completely given the changes in rail use, end of the franchised business model and cost savings now being asked for.

Great shots. Can I ask where this is please?

I’m reasonably familiar with the area, it’s the East Ardsley area of Wakefield.

I think that Richard’s photos were taken from the Fall Lane road bridge, with the class 91s heading towards Leeds from Wakefield Westgate.

The following Google maps reference should help;

But conversely its now known that all the Azuma fleet will need some extensive re-work to fix the cracking issue and as such full fleet availability won't be achieved for a good few years yet.

And I am guessing timetabling changes post pandemic will see to it that the units are not missed, plus the 91s might last a little longer under HM Government than under a private company.  They are/were schdeduled to go in 2023 once the new trains were being delivered and some mods to Azumas had been completed, I guess a further life extension might see them stay even longer.
