RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted July 25, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 25, 2019 Hi Ken, You are correct - Original Klear does thicken with age. I've tried water and I've tried acrylic thinners and I've tried Windolene. All work to a certain extent but Windolene seems to give the best results. From memory I mixed it at 2 parts Klear to 1 part Windolene. Phil H
RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick Posted July 25, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 25, 2019 Loads of information here! Can't remember how to thin it without reading through it, but I'm sure it's in there somewhere. http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html

steve45
Can you still buy this, I've seen it on Ebay but its expensive for the original formula, there is a product marketed by Pledge, but I guess this is not the same?

Hi Steve, You are correct - they are not the same. The new Klear is supposed to have the same properties as the old Klear. I find this is not correct - it behaves differently. Apparently the new Klear is a UK only product and you can buy the old Klear in Europe for as little as £2.00 per bottle. I am on my last bottle of the old stuff. steve45
Thanks Phil, I may have to wait until a trip abroad to buy a bottle or two!
