RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted July 31, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 31, 2019 I can't post this photo (copyright) but you can look at it via the link below. What is the vehicle that we can see to the left of the island platform canopy? It seems to have windows in the end and a curved form, so much like a driving trailer. Perhaps an Inspection Saloon? Date of the photo early 1900s, I think, before coaching stock went maroon. https://www.google.com/search?q=truro+station&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwia9oXv1N_jAhWEQUEAHaHSAWwQ_AUIEigC&biw=1366&bih=654#imgrc=NG-tfCW9aHXV2M:

RMweb Premium Welchester Posted July 31, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 31, 2019 Isn’t it a Cordon gas tank wagon, as in this photograph of Birmingham Snow Hill? https://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrbsh1230.htm

From its age, I would be really surprised if it was still in copyright. Jim

RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted August 4, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 4, 2019 Thanks, guys. Looking at it with the expectation of there being tanks, I can see what it is. What I thought were curved windscreens is the upper tank with a strap between it. Looking up a related query (locos shedded at Taunton), I see that some GW locos were being auto-fitted circa 1900. What did the auto-trailers look like?
