JIm if you do manage to get to Ian Allan there not accepting the loyalty cards but you can cash them in against purchases there's really not much (Models) in there as I was in today probably for my last time due to shifts etc..

Would you be able to use it at the Waterloo shop as that's staying open just an idea if that's an option.

Cheers

Colin

The answer to that is yes. If Jim ever gets to the Smoke.

I checked, as I have started another card (but only for non sale items on the thursday before last.) after cashing in the previous one

The shelves are looking really bare lots of books have now gone.

All the wagons and coaches have gone apart from a few L&B wagons.

I picked up what must be the last loco.

It is a small HO shunter from Liliput, complete with a Lok Pilot DCC decoder for £27.50. Nice little thing but not quite sure where it fits on 1930's GWR:D.

Still a good selection of Woodland Scenics stuff.

I was told that if they have sold most stuff before the 14th they will shut earlier.

Unfortunately I won’t make it before it shuts, sounds like it would be pointless anyway however I am mainly after buildings and scenics for the layout at the mo which is typical (most of my other Low relief buildings have come from the discount table there over the last few months!)

That's unfortunate Jim.:(

I have been stocking up on Woodland Scenics bits and bobs.

There are a few Bachmann & Farish buildings left but not many (More N than 00)

The main bargains are with some of the larger books (£40 or £50 books at half price), which are still there, The Rail Atlasses seem to have gone.

75% off for the last week.

Mostly books left now and various Woodland Scenics rock & stone making apparatus and fir trees.

Still some paints but not many

Some plastic kits - Ships-aircraft-tanks etc.

Are you aware if the final date for closure is still down as tomorrow (14th)?

I would assume so, although it's looking a bit bare now, apart from what I  listed yesterday they still have some of those specialist transport magazines that WHS don't stock such as Tramfare, London Bus, Narrow Gauge World etc.

Thanks for letting me know - was meaning to pop in there again prior to closure, but not sure I'll be able to make it.

But the good news is that the manager of the Ian Allan shop is opening a new shop nearby soon.

Indeed

Well, nearby on a UK scale anyway

It's about 5-10 minutes walk from the existing Ian Allan shop - I've walked the route a couple of times whilst in Birmingham for other purposes - Ian Allan was never open on the days I visited which was a shame.

I wonder if anyone knows whether Ian Allan in Waterloo has reopened since the pandemic? The Ian Allan website seems to be down and I found this worrying story online: https://www.wandsworthguardian.co.uk/news/18184395.ian-allan-book-model-shop-fined-thousands-selling-knife-teen/

I fancy that many model shops would not be able to survive that and the pandemic.

Really? What a terrible thing to do by the council. As if any youth intent on stabbing someone would go to the bother of going to Ian Allan to buy a model kit containing presumably a craft knife. It is more like the council wanting to force them out. Such a pity the Ian Allan bookshops in Birmingham and Manchester have closed - they were both excellent and well located shops.
