Chrisjh
Does anyone know if It is possible to get hold of 2 x Virgin Voyager coaches in N Gauge? Many thanks, Chris
RMweb Premium Nile Posted August 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 5, 2019 (edited) Dapol ones were available separately, to turn a 4-car into a 5-car. This is off the top of my head and I can't remember if they were for the Voyager or Super Voyager. (edit - it was the Super Voyager , cl.221). I don't recall Farish doing this. RMweb Premium Kris Posted August 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 6, 2019 Your best hope is to find a broken set being sold for spares.

RMweb Premium njee20 Posted August 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) Yep, early ones were very noisy and the pickups were rubbish. Farish ones are slow, and some people find the couplings fiddly (I find them fine). The Farish model is a 220, which are all 4-car units so no intermediate coaches needed. Dapol did 220s and 221s, and offered a spare intermediate coach for the 221 to make a 5-car set. Dapol also put the motor in one of the centre coaches, so you need 3 decoders to convert to DCC which is a bit of a pain. jpendle
Just to echo njee's post, it would be prototypically incorrect to add a 5th coach to the Farish model as it's a 220, not a 221. For that same reason Farish never did 5th coaches as add ons. Regards, John P
