evening,

The south west shed of Truro was an interesting place that looking at Colin J Marsden's book on WR Diesel Depots even serviced DMUs. Would anyone happen to have any pics of the shed with the extension to the depot and or pics of diesels on Truro shed?

Will this do? (Not a good copy taken with a tablet phone). There's a DMU poking its nose out if you look carefully.

The two old carriages are interesting - look old.  Anyone know what they are and their origins?

They're tool and/or breakdown vans. Others with more precise knowledge will probably be along shortly.

Interesting photo because there's what looks to be a fairly new DMU (1958/59?) sticking out of the shed while there's a fairly clean BR early crest & unlined black Manor(or Grange?) in the foreground.

More photos of Truro shed with the DMU extension can be found on the Cornwall Railway Society website (warning - if you haven't visited this excellent site before, put several hours aside!!) The relevant pictures are not close-up but do show the extension from the front - I've seen better ones somewhere.......I must have looked at this building a lot from the public 'black bridge' between 1966 and 1971 but pretty much ignored it - then suddenly it was gone, almost overnight it seemed at the time.

The DMU appears to have a roof headcode box so was probably a BRCW Class 118, which I believe arrived brand new in 1960, by which time an unlined black Manor or Grange - probably the latter - in such good condition must indeed have been an unusual sight!!
