Guest JiLo
HI All, Been searching around the net for this but coming up blank. Im trying to pin down when Class 158/9's were first put into revenue service in the West Yorkshire Metro Train livery? From what I can gather the 10 units were the last built, up to 1992. Thanks in advance Joe
'CHARD
By the look of it the fleet was in traffic during 1991 at least: https://www.flickr.com/photos/66289212@N07/8139233165
Bomag
They were bulit towards the end of the 350hp Cummins engine batch. While commuting from Leeds to Bradford I saw my first three (901, 902 and 904) on 13th May 1991.

BernardTPM
The very first one was in service just before the end of Speedlink services, though not by long.
stewartingram
My own database of 158-901 to 158-909 shows them introduced to traffic 3/91-4/91. Stewart

Butler Henderson
Further, RAIL 148 has a picture of 158901 at Bradford Interchange working the 1532 Hebden Bridge-Leeds on 24/4/91 commenting it had been taken off crew training duties to cover a drastic shortage of units and was believed to making the first revenue earning workings of the fleet. RAIL 149 reporting 1248 Leeds-Hebden Bridge being the first. The main introduction to service was scheduled to be 8/7/91 on a new half hourly Calder Valley timetable (Additional source - Railway World July 1991).
