Day 6: This secondhand loco I bought of one of your competitors isn't working. What are you going to do about it?

Day 7: Hello, I called last week about the new Bachmann stuff...

Day 8: Do you take Luncheon vouchers?

That's a long week - 8 days - but they are from Liverpool so

That’s the problem about working in customer service, the bloody customers.

Methinks you're not the ideal candidate Robin. :D

The customer is always right until either:

1. they have left the shop, or

2. they have put the phone down.

Easy. I am obviously an outstanding candidate.

Good luck to he or she who gets the job and can tolerate the rest of us!

I would apply immediately if they were still in Smithdown Road and it was customer facing or dealing with stock. I can't get to the present site unfortunately as it's not accessible by public transport or foot. I'm only about a mile or two away as well....

But I take it that it's on the phones. After working for a while in a call centre I doubt I would enjoy it. Besides I struggle to hear on those headset things. :pardon:

Even got the seemingly obligatory beard for male staff. :P

Dream job?? Not so sure.

Customer Service on the phones:

Day 1: Questions about when new Bachmann stock is coming in

Day 2: Questions about the accuracy of the latest Dapo/Hornby/Heljan watchamacallit.

Day 3: Do you have spare parts for a 14xx

Day 4: Why has the price of x pre-order gone up twice and it's not even in stock yet

Day 5: Do you have an R186 Signal Box?

hahaha, for those who didn't get the reference

From the jokes thread:

Hattons::- "What is your greatest weakness?"

Job candidate:- "Honesty"

Hattons:- "I don't think that honesty is a weakness."

Job candidate:- "I don't care what you think"

Thats the problem - the present site is a bit of a problem to get to!  Anyhow, I'm best in a non-customer-facing role so that's me out.

(Telephones are the work of the devil!)

The beard thing is so you minimise the time it takes to get there in the morning, no shaving....  :jester:

We don't have any, there isn't any demand for them and Hornby won't be making any more until next year!

(mutters to colleague, another ruddy call about an R186!)

Dream job. Wonder if they would hire someone to work from New Zealand lol.

You should only offer to provide the off-shored overnight cover service, for those who want to speak to a real person but for whom UK daylight/office hours are inconvenient. If you can sell yourself for the role by telephone interview, you are more than qualified.

Filmed in Potters Bar Model Shop, opposite the Bus Station.  The shop's long gone, sadly (as has Henry J. Nicholls R/C Model Shop just down by the crossroads).
