Sorry bad wording (I think as I still don’t know if it is crowdfunded) maybe I should have put “which one are we buying?” as there is so much contradictory and confusing information

I see you are learning why some of us have made the odd adverse comment about Keith/KR Models.

I did think that he had taken some of the comments on board as his last posts on GT3 have been very clear and informative.

Alas it is back to the lack of professionalism of old.

Hi, think the first thing is "clarity" on which version is being produced.  Additionally, if there are two vehicles - why not offer a double pack?  (Possibly with a small financial incentive to order a pair?)

Second thing - looking at the CAD's - dosent the huge grooves/holes to allow the flask cover to move, make it more of an "expensive" toy, rather than a model of finesse.  Oxfords 45foot's have a similar issue, enabling them to connect to he reachstacker.  I've not seen any of the Roco wagons with DCC operated roofs, but surely the mechanism is more refined than that.  Otherwise, I would suggest 2 chassis - one with the groove for DCC, and one without for DC/those who don't want the grooves and mechanism?.  Maybe it could still be operated manually on small side runners, which some manufacturers did many years ago.

Best Regards,

C.

Yes, the last few pages are not inspiring me with confidence!

There was an H0 scale model of the French wagon produced for one of the industry partners involved in nuclear transport (NTL). From memory the one that used to sit in my office was a trade gift from Bombardier.

If it meant to operate on layouts - can it go round corners?

Good question. It only ever sat on a length of straight track in my office, but I seem to remember the inner bogie pivots were on pivoting subframes. I am sure someone will still have access to one.

I have got one of the H0 flasks, I think it runs ok as far as I can remember.

I also have 2 scale plans, one Bombardier Prorail Ltd 176 Tonne GLW (like the proposed kit), and a NTL Railwagons 1-8 (closer to the H0 model but with different shaped hood covers).

However, this type of wagon is not my specialist subject unfortunately. It has been interesting reading other peoples knowledge.

Cheers.

KR have so far stuck to their timetable for CAD and tooling and have given no indication that the GT3 project is not running to time. On the contrary they have said categorically in their newsletter that all the required  funding is now I need place and it is going ahead and deliveries are expected in the 2nd quarter of 2020.

But some people pick up the DJM brush and apply tar. That is unfair, KR have no connection with DJM whatsoever.

Keith has openly stated that owing to the negative comments made about him and about the running of the GT3 project, he will no longer post on RM Web, that is why you will get no more info from him on here. He does communicate to those who have placed orders by electronic newsletter and emails.

Jim raises an interesting point about KR possibly losing business as a direct result of some comments made on here by some posters and I have wondered whether some are sailing close to the wind. I have seen posts removed from this site for far less and I am a little surprised that none have been removed so far.

Except he has. He has provided information on the GT3 tooling so butt out with the stirring please.

Hi everyone,

At first I was quite interested in this new flask announcement but unfortunately the type proposed doesn’t fit my modelling era from what I can work out.

The MOD type that have been used in more recent times, and are quite different, with DRS haulage would have been of much more use. They had carried the old fuel from the Vanguard class (Trident) subs when they were all going through mid life overhauls.

The new type of flask wagon would also have been a good choice.

Hopefully it turns into a nice model when it does come out

All the best

Mark

I was quite surprised when this was announced I though Keith had previously mentioned some of the more obscure loco classes along the lines of the GT3 so didn't think stuff like this was on his radar. Don't fancy this one myself but I guess if he is looking at modern stuff too will have to keep an eye out.

Great to see a wagon with such innovative features of DCC door control operation being developed, yet has anyone got a confirmation from KR Models as to the exact type. I am hesitant to email from reading pages on here, as I cannot tolerate snappy/abrasive communication.

The MOD/NDA KUA 95770/771 are what I seek, they would go perfectly with my Model Rail Magazine Escort Coach pack (anyone remember those?):

Though these have been stored since 2016 and replaced since 2018 with two highly modified MK2E BSOs 9506 and 9508.

I don't understand why you would be reluctant to ask KR Models to confirm the exact model.  Presumably you would like someone else to ask the question.

I think that if you wrote Keith a polite, genuinely interested, email, you'll receive a polite response.

A polite request for clarification has already been asked on the KR Facebook page two days ago. Unfortunately no response as yet.

I don’t know about face ache, but if you look at the Facebook page for KR Models you can see any answer yourself, and you could repeat the answer on here. Just a thought.

For the sake of clarity,  one would assume identifying the exact wagon being modelled would be a priority.  Different wagon types cover multiple periods and uses so if one is considering an order then obviously the prototype needs to be verified.  Also,  as CADs have been commenced then some history of the wagon in question must have been sourced.  To assist potential purchasers perhaps the website could provide some prototypical data and operation of the wagon.  This is a unique piece of rolling stock which will appeal to many so it is in the websites financial interest to solve the puzzle - what exactly is it?????????

I have looked through the comments on 'The Facebook', I do not have an account - yet you can publicly review:

16 hours ago: KR Models We are have reached out to DRS for clarification as there's been some conflict with the numbers. We can confirm that it is the IQA wagon and not the well type KUA wagon.

But,

5 days ago: KR Models Mark Chandler yes it is. It ran with DRS

Its still as clear as mud though despite the FB comments. As stated above, the CAD isn't right for the IQAs and these have barely seen any use with DRS, certainly not on the MoD workings.
