Sorry: forgot to say - might as well mention this again. Seeing as its quite rigourous.

So you don't have any evidence then? The evidence that is apparently 'everywhere' but takes all night to find trawling the internet  :jester:

Anything to avoid providing anything credible to support the assertion about public gullibility.

The harsh reality is that HS2 has consistently failed to act on NAO and other reports since it started, and is plagued by secrecy so no wonder it's credibility is in tatters.

Anyone actually know what the cost of HS2 is officially? To finish it? HS2 certainly don't.

By the same token, have you any idea of the "Final Cost", apart from the figure quoted? Which may or may not be correct, given that over 20 tears a lot of thing could happen to change that

So what reopened old railway line relieves the pressure on the southern end of the WCML???  The LSWR between Exeter and Plymouth?

So the public aren't gullible, only sections of the public.

As for the costs, it is clear no one credible has confidence in the costs for HS2. Why should objectors have to provide a level of detail that HS2 itself can't do? Frankly laughable even before the sustained criticism of the cost management of HS2 and the culture of secrecy for a project funded by the public. All documented in detail by the NAO on various occasions.

Of course they won't have credible confidence if details are not tabled by anybody.  Any half baked clown can start spouting totally unexplained numbers - and that is exactly what they are doing.  They aren't even bothering to ask for explanation of the numbers - they simply don't want to hear that do they.

Funny, all the evidence is that the disasters that were supposed to befall us after the referendum were wrong. Consistently wrong. Still wrong. Very wrong. Documented and wrong.

I strongly suggest we get off this topic before the thread is shut down by the mods.

Yes, but enough about the HS2 management, what about those who object? :jester:

Probably a good idea.

When I said 'evidence' I meant actual evidence. Something with a bit of intellectual rigour.

Not in the UK but there was a study in the USA that found something like 45% of the population believed the moon landings were faked.

All across the Western world there has been a huge growth in interest in conspiracy theories, almost all of which would require 10-10,000 people to keep their mouth shut for anywhere between immediately and 60 years.   Humans aren't that reliable unfortunately and the truth much more boring.

I wonder if it's time to lock this thread until something new develops, whether that's facts, news or a radically different take on the situation. I'm interested in the topic but it seems that we've been going round in circles for some time now. A pause would allow us to take a break, safe in the knowledge that we won't have pages and pages of the same circular arguments to wade through when we return to the fray.
