dasatcopthorne
A slight change has taken place in the background. The shop backs have changed together with the addition of an old lamp and a broken telephone wire.
dasatcopthorne
This weekend I've been fitting a few turnout levers to the layout. They are very easy to make up but as they are an afterthought I had to add extensions to the timbers either side of the stretcher bar. dasatcopthorne
My 03 has properly joined the fleet now. Although I've had it quite a while, at some point it lost a buffer and I just could not find spares. Yesterday I discovered that I had a pack of Hornby Class 50 buffers that virtually match. A little fettling and it fitted fine along with new wire coupling loops. It's fitted with a Logoman Loksound micro with a sugar cube in the cab. dasatcopthorne
I've recently added a live wheel cleaning facility to the layout. A 3.5mm stereo socket on the facia feeds a board with track which has had cleaning pads inserted. I bought a pack of pads in Lidl. They are meant for placing under furniture legs. They seem to work quite well. Dave. Edited February 14, 2023 by dasatcopthorne 4

Dave Excited to see the progress. Ordered my own baseboards from Tim off the back of seeing your build and the quality of his work. Excited to get started! Keep the photos coming! dasatcopthorne
Glad to hear this and thanks again for you comments. Have you looked back at the early posting in the thread? Tim's stuff is excellent but when you put it together, don't rush. The joints need good clamping and don't use cheap PVA. Let each joint dry before fitting another. Happy to help if you need any tips. Dave.

It's a much smaller board I've ordered however the same principle. Good strong glue, plenty of clamps and don't rush. My plan is to build the small fiddle yard first to get my bearings with the build process before attempting the larger board. Ordered a few weeks ago so should hopefully have them by the end of the week. Luke
marc smith
Haven't checked in on this thread in quite some time... Glad I looked in today though. Great progress - the low relief background buildings, and the perspective reduced buildings on the backscene really work. Must check in to Elbow Lane again soon
Charlie75
I’ve spent several evenings reading through this layout build, and watching the various video clips on here, and YouTube. It may be a small layout, but it packs a mighty punch for atmosphere and nostalgia. I love it. Congratulations on building such a fabulous layout.

Charlie75
Your welcome Dave. I’m really taken with your lovely layout. I hope you get the chance to get out on the exhibition circuit soon, once the exhibitions can get up and running again. Hopefully I’ll catch up with you, and the layout at an exhibition some where, as I would love to see the layout for real. I’m keen to start building a small layout myself, and I’ll certainly be taking some inspiration from yours. I hope I can create a similar period atmosphere too.
