Container wagons on Far North Line - Scotland

HI all,

I'm about to start on a project to build some of these.

From other places I have information and a photo or two.

But - I need more!

The wagons in question are:

Tops code FGB (then later FJB) 610999 / 602206 / 602331 which were all converted from inner wagons.

Anyone know of more photos of these wagons?

Thanks

Phil H

According to Michael Collins' book, 601999 was apparently built as a double-ender, the other two were converted from inner vehicles and renumbered to 601997/998. There are photos of all three on Paul Bartlett's site - 601997/8 appear to retain their original headstocks inboard of the bufferbeam extensions, but the photo of 601999 is after allocation to Departmental use, including end steps which make it difficult to see whether it too had the superfluous headstocks (although if it was originally built as double-ended, one would imagine not). There was also another double-ended conversion, 601996.

Hi Paul,

As usual - you are correct!

I have already visited and had a good look at your collection

I've been on moost of the 'usual sources' and am diggingthroughbooks as well.

Currently I am part way though searching the Leicester Wagon Group pamhlets in the hope of finding some dates.

Thanks

Phil H
