Wagon / Carriage Shed

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Currently working on our layout and plan to build part section of the Kittybrewster wagon / carriage shed but not sure about the height, sizes etc could be from this photo attached.

Any help would be appreciated as guide to what you think the sizes for below:

Height Wall

Window Arches

Stone work

Thanks again, Al

There are plenty of good clues there - the wagon behind the arch, for instance, and some bricks to count - the arch is 4 bricks thick; 4 x 4.5 in = 18", a good start. The spring line of the arch is about 3 bricks above the top of that wagon, so (height of wagon + 9") above rail level. I count about 34 bricks from spring line to crown of the arch - from which I estimate the span of the arch at around 10'6" - 11'0".

The bottom of the arch reveals are close to the level of the B12's lower running plate, and the curve of the arch starts at approximately the level of the top of the boiler.  The wagon inside gives a guide to the width of the arch as well.  A bit of research into the number should determine if it's a 9 or 10 foot wheelbase.
