RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted September 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 7, 2019 Hi all whats everyone’s preference for Routemaster Models? Which one is more detailed and fine?
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted September 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 7, 2019 I would say EFE, well the later revamped ones. They offer the greatest number of versions, RM, RML, RMC, RCL, RMA and RMF. 2
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted September 30, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 30, 2019 How do I recognise the later ones? Do they have a sensible numbering system like Hornby? Numbers get higher as they go? Bachmann seem to jump back and forth with releases sometimes.
Steamport Southport
I know next to nothing about buses, but they announced some recently which may be of interest. RTs rather than RMs. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/143692-efe-announce-cravens-rt-bus-plus-updates/ Jason
Mike Harvey
For the EFE range the first 3 digits represent the shape/type and the last two are an ascending sequential series broadly in order of release. So the higher the last two digits, the more recent is the model. These are the numbers for the original and improved versions, excluding the 4 prototypes RM1/2/5 and CRL4 and the single decker. EFE 315xx RM (old version 156xx) old 178xx/179xx RM open top 317xx. RMC (old version 256xx) 318xx RMA 319xx RML (old version 255xx) 321xx RMF 331xx RMC open top (platform doors) 385xx RMC open top 362xx RMA with trailer 389xx RCL Bachmann 423xx RML Edited October 1, 2019 by Mike Harvey Extra detail

RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted October 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 1, 2019 A good start with these is to strip the overly thick paint and reveal some of the nice detailing underneath. Mike. Oh, and pedantically, it's not 00 gauge, it's 4mm scale!

BernardTPM
The domes are also a strange shape, though filler could put that right.
Les Bird
I've seen one of these built with corrected domes and it looked very convincing although, as stated above, it's not 4mm scale.
