Tree stumps

Hi,

 

I need to include some tree stumps on the HO scale layout I’m currently building.  Does anyone have any tips for making them or know where I can buy some?

Would it be possible to use suitably sized twigs from the garden cut to the required length?

I have used in the past as suggested above bits of twig or small branch in the past with good effect.

The Woodland Scenics ones are available as two different sets, cut or broken. They also do packs of dead wood, although dried twigs can be used. Busch also do some tree stumps, complete with chain saws and a petrol can.

I used twigs from the garden with good results.  Make sure there is a clean cut at the appropriate height for your woodcutters and pack a little weedy grass to cover up the join twixt tree and the rest of the world
