RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted September 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 15, 2019 I have a ESU 4.0 that I am unable to change the loco number (CV1) I can do reboot of CV8 with a value of 8 and cv 1 becomes loco address 3 as I would expect I’ve tried reprogramming on both the main and program facilities on my Gaugemaster prodigy Any ideas ? RobjUK
Are you using a two digit or four digit address for the loco? CV1 is only used for short address mode; CVs 17 & 18 hold a long address, I believe. Edit - do you have a stay-alive connected? Depending how they are built and wired, they can bypass the motor current pulse used for feedback to the controller, as it's supplied by the stay alive and not the track connection. RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted September 15, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 15, 2019 Many thanks for your reply. No stay alive fitted. I have tried a single digit and my normal four digit, neither seem to work. Eltel
RAF96
Try a controller reset.
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted September 16, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 16, 2019 Thanks, but I’ve tried that.
smokebox
Is the decoder locked? I think CV 15 should be 0 if it's unlocked, 1 it's locked.
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted September 17, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 17, 2019 I’ve done a chip reset . It seems to work fine as long as I leave CV 1 set at the default setting of 3 which I’m happy to do. (I can’t read the cab number easily anyway) Thanks for all your help.
