Irish Padre
An occasional posting will happen here, as I mostly use the IRM forum but have benefited hugely from advice here. Rosses Point is a work in progress - a 1950s might have been SLNC/MGWR branch from Sligo to Rosses Point. A little done since I started earlier this year -some rolling stock and station building. Track to follow... I’ll post more if anyone’s interested..... 16 2

Is the building based on a real structure? Will be following with interest, please post more.
Irish Padre
Thank you! Yes it’s a fictional line - basically a west coast version of the Timoleague and Courtmacsherry. So expect random bits of CIE stock and hopefully an SLNC tank.....one loco so far which is an MGWR single wheeler as it might have looked had it lasted until the 50s....and yes, the station is a 95% copy of Dromahair. Damo666
I understand that you will be modelling just a short part of the line, near Ros Ceite, as the locals might say, but I'd be interested in seeing how your imaginary line might leave the main terminus in Sligo and cross the river before heading to Rosses Point. Irish Padre
Ah. Yes. Quite.... There you have me at a disadvantage, as the hen said to the fox. Sorry - am reading the Pickwick Papers right now and Sam Weller keeps butting into my conversations... Been many years since I’ve been to Sligo but my favoured idea of turning the SLNC platform into a through road doesn’t survive contact with my memory of the topography. Only option I suppose would be to install a facing junction from Sligo station on to the Quays line and head for Rosses Point some way along that....would be worth hearing that little 2-2-2T bark up the gradient on the way home!! Irish Padre
Dodgy soldering I know but that can only improve. My first PCB track - built to a scale 5’3”. 45 foot length as per the prototype...
Irish Padre
In a frenetic afternoon’s activity we have not only produced track but traction! My first ever kit built loco (The little tank pictured above) turned a wheel for the first time after fitting of the electrics and mechanicals required....the driving wheels are spinning in the first pic ... Irish Padre
Doing a bit of playing now to see what the station may look like....crossover will move towards the camera a bit but you get the idea of where the 4 tracks will go..... 11 2
CKPR
Very nice indeed - I don't model Irish prototypes but if I did, I would model the SL&NCR.
Irish Padre
A rather frustrating week but getting there. Titania is kept on the rails by a brass ‘spring’ deep in her chassis which effectively forces the driver and front wheel to stay level. This spring fractured on Wednesday, after months of occasional flexing by me to secure the optimum rail-holding. So a strip down was in order to repair the bracket. I also took the chance to ream out the axle bearings for free-er running, loosened the tight pickups, and added lead everywhere it could go. She runs much better now.... 7

Irish Padre
On the chassis jig and rolling road. One rod a little tight so a bit of patient fettling will be required.. 4
Irish Padre
Off work for a few days. So cleared all the detritus off the baseboard and glued down the cork. Trial track fitting to revise the plan that has been in mind: seems to work...

Irish Padre
Thanks. Mix and match really. GNR and CIE ones are from an Alphagraphix kit, mounted on plastic card to give depth. Plain ones are from Invertrain. Posters and timetables from Sankey Scenics plus the other sources mentioned above.
RMweb Gold Argos Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2019 I've seen a couple of models of Dromahair station building now, are there published plans somewhere or did you scale from photos? Your model is immediately recognisable and very nicely done. Thanks Angus
Irish Padre
Thanks Angus - I also post on IRM as Galteemore - we have encountered each other there. It’s actually drawn from an Alphagraphix kit of Florencecourt, albeit with an extra storey! It was my family’s home station and somewhere I’m rather fond of.
